Couric & Soechtig Double-Down On Fraudulent Anti-Gun Film

Recommended Posts

Director Stephanie Soechtig and Producer/Yahoo!News Anchor Katie Couric were caught red-handed fabricating gun owner responses in the anti-gun propaganda film, Under the Gun.

Former journalists Katie Couric and Stephanie Soechtig are not smart people.

While making an anti-gun propaganda film called Under the Gun, director Soechtig removed a detailed, three-person response by members of the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) to one of Couric’s questions which lasted more than four minutes and showed that Couric was ill-informed on the topic.

In a bid to make Couric look less ill-informed, and in fact make the VCDL members look as they’d been caught flat-footed without a ready response to an obvious question, Soechtig instead replaced the actual answer by splicing in eight seconds of film clips taken during breaks in the more than two hours of film to make the VCDL members look like they didn’t have a response.

Then Soechtig got caught.

Then Soechtig admitted fraudulently editing the film.

The Couric admitted she was aware that the fraudulent edit was present in the early versions of the film, and allowed it to make it to the final cut.

Now Soechtig has once again admitted committing fraud, and only regrets that she failed to spin it enough to make her propaganda have more impact.

On Wednesday, Stephanie Soechtig told
magazine that “had I known that the NRA would focus on eight seconds of a two-hour film, I might have done things differently. But
I made the creative decision and I stand by it.

Soechtig also revealed her true anti-gun rights agenda when she huffed: “If I wanted to make them [Virginia Citizens Defense League] look bad,
I would have focused exclusively on their radical ideology
. But I didn’t do that.” Later in the interview, Soechtig added: “It’s interesting that they’re focusing on what’s not in the film instead of what is in the film, because if they focused on what is in the film, it would threaten their livelihood.
This is very textbook gun-lobby intimidation tactics, and I won’t be intimidated
There is a small but noisy fringe in this country.
They’ve been really loud, and to be honest they’ve been really successful in preventing our legislators from passing any meaningful legislation on this issue.”

Bearing Arms has been in contact with Philip Van Cleave, President of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, as the group’s Board of Directors considers a wide range of legal remedies in response to Soechtig’s fraudulent representation of the VCDL’s answer in Under the Gun.

Soechtig and Couric sound defiant in front of friendly television cameras.

I somehow suspect they won’t feel so cocky if they find themselves defending themselves in a multi-million dollar civil case.
