Glock Wins FBI’s $85M Contract For New 9mm Pistols

Recommended Posts

After issuing a Request For Proposal for a new compact and full-size 9mm pistol — among multiple others — in October 2015, the FBI has awarded the contract to Glock.

The contract also calls for two different training pistols and replacement parts.

Winning the contract guarantees Glock a maximum payout of $85 million. CNNMoney has reported a minimum deal of at least $20 million.

The main focus of the RFP, which can be seen on FedBizOpps.com, were a compact pistol and a full-size pistol:

Class I Compact Pistol: One (1) Class I Pistol with a barrel length of no less than 3.75 inches and no greater than 4.25 inches, minimum magazine capacity of 14 rounds, night sights, six (6) magazines, FBI approved gun lock (lock approval shall be post award), operator’s manual written in English, stackable hard plastic container.

Class II Full Size Pistol: One (1) Class II Pistol with a barrel length of no less than 4.26 inches and no greater than 5.2 inches, minimum magazine capacity of 16 rounds, night sights, six (6) magazines, FBI approved gun lock (lock approval shall be post award), operator’s manual written in English, stackable hard plastic container.

The contract states that no extended magazines or additional floor plates will be permitted for either class of pistol.
