South Carolina Militia

This site is being developed with the sole purpose (for now at least) of trying to determine if there is any interest in this great state of South Carolina in reorganizing the constitutionally mandated militia.

 

Article I Section 8 of the US Constitution states "Congress shall have the power... To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions; To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;"

 

Congress has failed us here. As easy as it is to blame others, We, the People, have to look no further than the mirror when casting fault. We have condoned Congress' failure and have, up to this point, done nothing to rectify the situation.
