I can see this working with any material for a variety of things. Fore example several rifles using 2 rifles as the locking bar and the handle. two pieces of rebar. instead of having to drill holes just simply tie the ends of the rope being used to the material such as rebar etc. that you are using for handles. I like this post. Add two more pieces of rope to the handle and you've got yourself a nifty little backpack.

Great drawing and a great idea! using it to carry dry grass would make my day.... I always itch after trying to carry that stuff to make a nice bedding area.
