‘Back The F*** Up’: Woman Saves Husband From Armed Robbery

A home’s security camera caught it all on tape. An unidentified man approached a stranger’s house asking to use a phone to make a supposed call and ultimately ask for a ride. But what the residents of the home didn’t know was that their guest was armed, and he was about to attempt to rob one of them at gunpoint. Thankfully, one of the residents was also locked and loaded.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis police are searching for a man who allegedly tried to rob three people outside of a Whitehaven home in broad daylight.

A surveillance camera captured the weekend incident.

The victims said a man pulled a gun on them after asking for a phone and then a ride. Moments later, he learned he wasn’t the only one carrying a gun.

A man told FOX13 his niece took his gun and scared off a bold criminal.

“She’s bold. She ain’t scared of nothing.”

In the video, the suspect had his right hand is in his waist band as he stands behind the victim’s nephew. The victim said the man’s hand was on a gun.

“People are so bold now day’s just broad day light on a Sunday come up to you and try robbing you,” the victim said.

Memphis police said Sunday afternoon the man in the blue jacket came to the Whitehaven home and asked to use one of the victim’s phones and then asked for a ride.

The man said his niece and her husband in the video were visiting from Florida.

While the incident was unfolding outside the house, the man said he and his niece were inside the house.

Police said after the woman saw her husband in trouble, she came out the front door with a gun.

The victim told FOX13, “She said she didn’t want to kill him, but when he fired back at us after she fired the warning shot. She said she was trying to hit him then but didn’t.”

Gun owners hear it from gun control advocates all the time: the average American doesn’t need an AR-15 or any other firearm for self-defense, the chances of being a victim of a crime or stopping a crime are so low that it just isn’t unnecessary. However, almost every other day it seems, reports show a gun owner preventing a home invasion, a carjacking, an armed robbery, or another crime that poses a threat to their life or someone else’s.

All one has to do is conduct a quick Google search to see that is the case.

Thankfully, the American people have the constitutional right to keep and bear arms to defend themselves. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what gun control proponents think the American people need or don’t need, or whether they think the chances of someone saving their life or the life of another from an attack is low.

As Tom points out often, cases like this won’t show up on the stats sheet because there wasn’t a justifiable homicide. It’s a shame that law enforcement doesn’t record instances like this, as it is still an act of self-defense. Regardless, the more people that hear about stories like this, the more it will help people realize the importance of the Second Amendment.
