Once upon a time, the Tampa Police Department carried Glock pistols. In 2009, the department jumped over to the Smith & Wesson M&P40. Now it’s switching things up yet again, adopting the enormously popular Sig P320 as its official duty pistol.

Tampa Police Department Picks The Sig P320

In a press release, Sig confirmed that the Tampa PD plans on buying 1,375 P320 pistols.

“Sig Sauer is honored to earn the trust of the men and women of the Tampa Police Department through their selection of the P320 pistol as their official duty pistol,” said Tom Jankiewicz, Sig’s executive vice president for law enforcement sales. “The modularity of the P320, with its ability to select grip size, combined with the proven reliability, accuracy, and safety of the firearm made it the right choice for this diverse group of officers.”

The Tampa Police Department includes over 1,000 sworn officers, covering three districts that encompass the municipality of Tampa, Fla.

“We here at Sig Sauer are very proud to gain the confidence of the Tampa PD and assist them in safely carrying out their department’s mission – to reduce crime and enhance the quality of life through a cooperative partnership with all citizens,” Jankiewicz added.

Details & Military Adoption

The Sig P320 is a modular, striker-fired gun. It’s available in full-size, carry, compact and subcompact models. It also has a serialized trigger group, making it adaptable to multiple caliber, size and grip options. It comes in 9mm, .357 SIG, 40 S&W, and .45 ACP. Users also have a choice of contrast or SIGLITE night sites. Meanwhile, the gun features a 3-point takedown with no trigger pull required for disassembly. In terms of safety features, it has a striker safety, disconnect safety and optional manual safety.

The US Army adopted a version of the P320 as its official sidearm in January of 2017. The gun is set to replace the Beretta M9. The Marines, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard have all followed suit in adopting the gun.

Who we are

We are a community of concerned patriots who are not overly confident in the current direction of our society, from the wild political climate to what can be summed up as a lack of morals or a complete void of integrity and pretty much a blatant disregard of respect..... Respect for our past, respect for our future and respect for each other. In order to protect our constitution and life as we know it, we decided to not be the silent majority anymore and pull our selves up by the bootstraps and make the world a better place. This website is to unite people like us, people who want to make a difference ... and do it the right way, Little did we know that in doing so we would create the number one militia community online. Here we are. Enjoy.
