WATCH: First Range Time With the Remington Model 700 Chassis Pistol

Recommended Posts

We got our first look at the all-new Remington Model 700 Chassis Pistol in October at the 2018 Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous in Montana.

The bolt-action, rifle-caliber pistol turned a lot of heads for a multitude of reasons. Watch it in action in the above video.

What Is the Remington Model 700 Chassis Pistol?

As Tactical-Life contributor Robert Jordan wrote in his review, “It is a true bolt action, but with a pistol grip and a short barrel.”

The barrel comes in two different lengths, depending upon which of the three calibers it is chambered for. The .308 model has a 12.5-inch barrel. Meanwhile, the .223 and .300 AAC Blackout version have a 10.5-inch barrel.

Remington Model 700 Chassis Pistol Testing

We tested the .308 model at the Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous. Barrels on all of the 700CPs are threaded. Our test model featured an AAC TI-RAID 30 suppressor.

“I was a little apprehensive about recoil. Turns out, I didn’t need to be,” Jordan said. “I lined up a steel plate at 100 yards and slowly pressed the trigger. The gun jumped about 2 inches straight up off of the shooting bag, but felt about like shooting a steel framed .357 revolver. It wasn’t unpleasant at all.”

But Why?

The question we keep seeing from readers is, “Why though?”

“First, just because it is fun,” Jordan said.”

“Second, it fits a few different niches,” he continued. “If you need to cut weight for a remote, backpack hunt, such as bighorn sheep, this might be worth a look. If you want a small stowaway gun in the truck for occasional varmints, this fits the bill. Or if you just want to have the most powerful handgun on the range, this is certainly the gun for you. Dirty Harry, eat your heart out.

MSRP on the 700CP is $1,020.

Who we are

We are a community of concerned patriots who are not overly confident in the current direction of our society, from the wild political climate to what can be summed up as a lack of morals or a complete void of integrity and pretty much a blatant disregard of respect..... Respect for our past, respect for our future and respect for each other. In order to protect our constitution and life as we know it, we decided to not be the silent majority anymore and pull our selves up by the bootstraps and make the world a better place. This website is to unite people like us, people who want to make a difference ... and do it the right way, Little did we know that in doing so we would create the number one militia community online. Here we are. Enjoy.
