hello,

 

I'm sort of an older guy in his 60's.   I spend the winters in Florida where I go wild hog hunting nearly every night with my thermo imaging scope.   I have a machine shop in my garage where I run a business on the side but I build my own gun parts and reloading tooling.

 

I'm a pro-gun activist and belong to the NRA, Illinois State Rifle Association, and Gun Owner of America.   I communicate with my government representatives constantly and marched on the Illinois state capitol on 3/27 with the gun owners of Illinois ( IGOLD ).   While I  avoid conspiracy theorists with the current political climate I'm searching for people like myself that want to preserve our constitution.    I'm not interested in extremists or conducting myself outside legal guidelines.    I'm looking for people like myself where we can compare information and discuss preparations for a society or governmental melt down if one should occur.   I think there is a safety in numbers.

 

I would like to attend some meetings or gatherings if any are held in my area.

This is a patriot network to help people find groups, other like minded people in their area or national level, start their own groups, or promote and recruit for a group they are already in.  It is also a forums for patriotic Americans.

Thanks but not interested in uniforms.   I want to be more like the French underground and not stand out

Well, thank you for your honesty about this. I guess it is best to know this now rather than later. IL LFM has uniforms and standards to follow. Unfortunately though, I'm not too sure it would have worked out anyways as the LFM does not hide from the public, we are not an underground militia, and we do try to stand out for our fellow militias and our communities. I am deeply sorry that this is not what you are looking for. I'm sure there may be other organizations here in IL that may facilitate your needs. Best of luck to you.

Thanks,   I think you have a fine group with Honerable intentions.   While I have no plans to hide from public view I also have no plan to advertise myself either.     My Dad preached to me as a teen,”don’t attract attention to yourself”, I still live by his advice.   The gays and certain religious orientations should follow my Dads advice as well.

If I might interject a few thoughts on "uniforms"...  If you are an individual simply looking to protect yourself or your family that's one thing: you're on your own.  A militia unit is another animal entirely.  According to the international rules of war (Geneva Conventions) a military formation must adhere to certain rules, lest they be branded as war criminals.  Here are a few of the important points that I recall.

 

1.  There needs to be a leader of the unit,  a Commanding Officer if you will who is responsible for the unit's conduct.  Members must submit to his authority.

2.  While conducting military operations, they need to be readily identifiable as enemy combatants.  For example, wear uniforms, same color scarves, visible armbands etc.

3.  Treat prisoners humanely

The Geneva Conventions set forth the conditions for the recognition of legitimate militia organizations... 
 
ANNEX TO THE CONVENTION : Regulations respecting the laws and customs of war on land.  
 
-Section I : On belligerents  
 
-Chapter I : The qualifications of belligerents 
 
-Article 1. The laws, rights, and duties of war apply not only to armies, but also to militia and volunteer corps fulfilling the following conditions:  
 
1. To be commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates;  

2. To have a fixed distinctive emblem recognizable at a distance;  

3. To carry arms openly; and  

4. To conduct their operations in accordance with the laws and customs of war. 
  
 In order to fulfill these conditions we ask you to do the following: (We have more than this one requirement)
 

• Obtain a suitable uniform and purchase the appropriate rank and insignia patches (see LFMS-04-06A “Uniform Standards”).
