Forget Nike’s Scrapped Betsy Ross, Buy Honor and Respect Sneakers

Recommended Posts

So Nike pulled a Nike, and scrapped some pretty cool looking Betsy Ross flag themed kicks. Instead of offering the cool flag-themed Air Max 1 USA’ for Independence Day, Nike bowed down to Colin Kaepernick. Yes, the same kneeling ex-NFL quarterback who used anti-patriotism to protest racial injustice by police. When Kap cried foul, Nike got nervous. So while the shoe looked pretty cool, Nike decided to “Just Not Do It.”

“After images of the shoe were posted online, Mr. Kaepernick, a Nike endorser, reached out to company officials saying that he and others felt the Betsy Ross flag is an offensive symbol because of its connection to an era of slavery,” reported wsj.com.

However, there is one company out there making a shoe we’re sure our readers can get behind. Honor and Respect, ran by Ron Slagle, an Iowa police officer, offers an alternative to Nike. The company’s shoes feature a law enforcement theme, with proceeds benefiting LE charities.

Honor and Respect Sneakers

“Honor And Respect LLC is committed to bringing respect to all first responders that devote their lives to helping all of us,” says a statement on the company’s website. “When you purchase a pair of Honor And Respect athletic shoes you are taking a step for the responders. We stand with all first responders and are here to assist them in their time of need.”

“Proceeds from the sale of his sneakers, which are black, white and blue, benefit Code 9 and Blue H.E.L.P, two organizations which seek to improve the lives of officers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder,” reported foxnews.com.

Slagle called Colin Kaepernick’s objection to the Nike sneaker, and his continued protest of the American flag, a “disgrace to the actual profession,” reported foxnews.com. “The Betsy Ross objection with the shoe for Nike translates into a loss of history. And I believe at times that’s the biggest loss we have is really knowing what the history about that is.”

Who we are

We are a community of concerned patriots who are not overly confident in the current direction of our society, from the wild political climate to what can be summed up as a lack of morals or a complete void of integrity and pretty much a blatant disregard of respect..... Respect for our past, respect for our future and respect for each other. In order to protect our constitution and life as we know it, we decided to not be the silent majority anymore and pull our selves up by the bootstraps and make the world a better place. This website is to unite people like us, people who want to make a difference ... and do it the right way, Little did we know that in doing so we would create the number one militia community online. Here we are. Enjoy.
