Attorney General: Against the law for militia members to assume role of police

Recommended Posts

People dressed in fatigues, carrying military-style assault weapons, walking around telling people they are there to keep the peace are likely breaking Virginia law, Attorney General Mark Herring wrote in a formal advisory opinion.

So, if they were wearing flannel and carrying 'hunting style' weapons and telling people they are there to keep the peace... it would be okay?

That being said... seems a bit over the top for the Militia to gear up for this event. I did like the red suspenders the guy was wearing in the article image - super stealthy.  I didn't get the impression that any violent actors or groups had planned to be there.  The article didn't seem to indicate as much.  Probably would have been better to go grey man and voice an opinion than draw all kinds of attention from the media.
