Why You Need To Acknowledge These 4 Levels Of Preparedness

This article is excellent. Living in a “hermitage” has taught us a lot about self-sufficiently.
We have been raising Nigerian Dwarf goats for years. They have a tiny foot-print, are incredibly easy to keep, and eat for close to free. They supply milk and meat.
Chickens give us the best eggs ever and, of course, chicken. So far, in 20 years we have yet to feed them. Extras from chickens:  they eat bugs of all sorts.

Next is rabbits. Not only are they nutritious, they’re quite tasty. Learn to tan the hides. They’re great for lining buck skin, making blankets and numerous other things

Now everyone laughs at me when I say we keep a horse and a donkey. But my household will be down the road with all our gear packed on our travois while you try to figure out where to get gas.
We will have a garden come spring, with heirloom seeds, of course

I have not bought a bar of soap in years as our hand crafted goats’ milk soap is amazing.  Should we run out of purchased lye and oils, we can make wood ash lye and substitute tallow

A hand pump well is an absolute must!!!!!

Supplement that with several solar shower bags and we’re good.   A wood stove for heat

We have a great fire pit, a smoker and a flat top griddle.  It runs on propane but we just put the flat top on top of the smoker

We have yet to start prepping. These things are simple our life but everyone would do well with them in dire circumstances
