So fixer gave me an idea. while many are at home, (i am not one of them) this is a great opportunity to get some gaming in. what better way to have fun and prepare than by gaming with other patriots and militiamen. So this topic will be dedicated to helping people on this site game together. Have fun everyone!

I had the idea, a few weeks ago, of a specifically militia-oriented game, as part of the concept of 'gamification'.

However, the gaming world is very distant from me and my experience, so I would like to ask:

Are there game-making 'engines' such that someone doesn't have to code the whole thing from scratch?

If so, I might be able to enlist the help of some young people I know, to create a specifically militia-oriented game.

What I have in mind would not be just a shoot-'em-up, but would include allowing players to invoke a wide range of skills and competencies that a militia unit ought to have, from how to do PR, to engineering, to medical work,  and including comms, logistics, transport, intelligence.

It would probably be similar to Sid Meier's Civilization.

However, I have no idea whether there are any game-creation engines that could do that.

I don't have time for an extensive Googling on this subject ... so does anyone who knows more about this field than me, have any comments?

You can get a lot further in life with a kind word and a gun, than with a kind word alone.

i have thought of the same thing. the concept for mine would be an open world survival type game like farcry, but with much more grounded combat and capabilities. Though i have no idea how to make games, though i could probably make the story behind the main quest if someone else could program it.

Well ... consider this.  Some people in the militia movement have what I think is a very wrong perspective on possible future developments. They foresee themselves, at some point in the future, being Rambo. Hiding in the woods, brewing their own medicine from dandelions, being an American Che Guevara. This isn't going to happen, however much fun it may be to fantasize about it.  I would like to see a game that follows the contours of what is more likely to happen, which involves a bit political split, reflected in the military. The militia movement would be part of a muc broader pro-liberty movement, and there would be lots of tricky political questions to solve.  But I admit this would probably not be as exciting as a Rambo type game.

I think there are game-creation engines which do not require that you know a programming language. Perhaps one of them could be pressed into service for this.  Look here:   https://conceptartempire.com/free-game-engines/
