If you have recently retired army UCP digital camo clothing or gear, don’t toss it. Brent0331 has a great video on dyieng it with Ritz apple green die. The results are amazing.

We shouldn't really be wearing camo as militia. It defeats the purposes of what we are supposed to do. Just... go check out my How to Fight series. You'll understand.

I think fight with what you have..    the ucp offers comfort and a ir reduction

It also screams "hey I'm a militia member, I'm the guy you're up against" which is great for conventional forces but if you're fighting a guerrilla war as militia would be then you're just painting a target on your back. Go read the thing. You'll know what I mean.

Oh I see what your getting at.  True blending into a surrounding is important.   Just varying on what the mission is.  A lot of the socom communities would be a useful place to study.  Mostly green berets who train up the population to fight.

I think it's got its place however.   If you can hide and blend in with the militiary which would be tough if your not familiar with it.

Agreed. I don't think it's practical for most scenarios but it IS useful for blending in with military units provided they don't change their uniforms between then and now. Still, I do recommend going to read the How to Fight series. It's... pretty good if I can pat myself on the back. There's five parts so far but I'm working on the sixth.

That's assuming guerrilla warfare tactics are the best for tactics for the mission.  Identification of team members on the ground in a confusion laden environment make uniforms useful.

Not true. Militia do not outnumber the US military for example. If the country is at war with another nation; don't shoot the US soldiers and they won't shoot you. Anyone in a civilian outfit with a gun is probably a militia member if they're actively engaging. Therefore; all teams have been identified in this scenario. Like before; read the series. It'll help. A lot.

Most military can spot a poser quickly so you have to have served...

That is also true though there are some out there that have managed to slip under the RADAR. My buddy used to do it years ago just to have a giggle but he eventually stopped because he got bored. Hell, he even got people to salute him after impersonating an officer.

Which ironically is NOT illegal unless he used it to gain access to money, equipment or the like even under the patriot act. I didn't know that until he told me.

I'll have to read up on the series.  But, I'd assume that just carrying a rifle and having body armor on would be enough to ID someone as a combatant.

In the series I actually suggest not doing that. Well... most times anyways. You'll have to read it over but it's built on principles that I've learned from many militias. I just took what I thought was the best idea and morphed my own ideas from it as well as combining some information from the Ranger handbook, things I've learned from ISIS and Taliban as well as things I learned myself when I was in the Army training people.

I've preached this for years. No military uniforms and a spare, different colored shit. Hit and run, change appearance and walk away.

The clothing and gear should be whatever works best for the environment you are in.  Many schools of thought on the militia. There are many who choose to operate in cooperation and with the blessing of county sherrifs , local law enforcement and government officials. They choose to operate in the light and not darkness which was sop for militias in the past. In this case I can see the use of a uniform. I am interested in your writing you are working on but it should not be the end all.
