Senior participation....

Recommended Posts

hi, generally militias consist of young men ready to defend our country. As a senior, are there positions that are not as aggressive but nonetheless important to the organization that a senior can participate in?

It depends on the particular group, you need to check with the groups in your area.  Personally I think every adult has something they can contribute as support to a group.

WELCOME!  Check the state militia forums link on the landing page for your state, area code militia link  or tab and click on the Map tab to find people near you to connect with.

I feel i am still in fighting condition.  My father and I were talking about this awhile ago.  He was disheartened that his fighting days are over.  I told him that he can still: shoot, reload ammo, cast lead bullets, gun smith organize, cook, ect.  All basic positions in any current army.  There is always a way to contribute.

Intelligence functions are as critical (if not moreso) than fighters. Solid well collected and analyzed timely intelligence grounded in facts is a HUGE force multiplier. This isn't the James Bond stuff, but things like area studies, terrain and human group analysis, etc.  Intel allows groups to effectively conserve their energy and focus better.

We have our intel guys read Sam Culpers SHTF Intelligence and most of them have attended one of his Tactical Intelligence Courses either online (when it was offered) or in person. Most of them are former .mil intel guys but have said to the person that it was well worth the effort and money.

Another function (and you kind of touched on it) is logistics support. Our loggies really need to be true jacks of all trades, able to collect and distribute classes of supply, provide medical support, transportation, etc.

There's other functions even the disabled can perform, such as communications support, intelligence gathering , etc. Bottom line is that the desire to learn and do the work is what really matters.
