Who we are NOT, and why we need that to be clear.

So what is the "ideal" mission for a militia?

I touched on the issue on this thread: https://www.mymilitia.com/forums/topic/68772-militia-lack-of-focus-and-mission/

Should militias defend local business during a riot?

Should militias protect cattle being seized by feds over a land dispute (The Bundy Ranch incident)

Should militias execute propaganda/psyops campaigns, or should that be performed by a separate but related organization?

In short... it is hard to plan and organize since there is no focus and mission... if we can narrow the scope of activity, planning will naturally follow.

Again Im new here and I am sure this tire is bald from discussion. My thoughts we need to redefine what we can do. By the Constitution we are not a supported Militia unless the state calls us up to be one. So that aint happening. We need to start small but work as a network. We should be there to protect our community as has been done in some locations with ANTIFA protests. less military outward but structured inward. Trusted with in our communities. I am working with local people I trust to build a small team. This has to have building blocks not a sky scraper.

Alamo6 I absolutely agree...    Let me ask, you say you are working with local people to build a small team... Exactly how I think things should be done.   What specifically will you train?   What "tasks" will you perform to protect your community?

You may have good answers to these questions, but there are a lot of groups that don't.... and that is why I think it is essential that we define the "role" of modern militias... it will vary from locale to locale, but something narrower than "protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies..." is needed to focus the effort.

In Intelligence, the goal is to "improve the economy of effort", i.e. get the most bang for the buck... We need to optimize our minute training schedule to best fit the mission and role we will play, and to do that we need to define those roles.

Not unless it's you business or you have been requested to, if you do decide to take on such a task be sure to have a boat load of liability insurance and gun owners insurance.

Not unless it is your land or a neighbors land and he requests help.

Yes just be quite about it.

Great questions. I am talking to people I trust in the community and first I get the are you nuts!? Then I work on explaining I think about building Super Community Security that requires many people from within the community that trust each other and are tied in with local law enforcement. So been talking to retired LEO's, Christian Leadership and Im adjusting how I discuss the topic as most do not want to be in a Militia but do want to protect the community. Back in 1760's each community took care of their own. I want to focus on that which means we have to know our neighbor and be a community. Sorry a bit of ramble. Training well in the military it is Shoot, Move and Communicate as core required items. In this information world it's Organize, Communicate, Move and last resort Shoot. Having said that I have to have a core group first then work on communications on how we internally and externally. With out this there will not be a team to do any other training.  The other part of this is most people bring skills with them unlike someone joining the military. So not a complete answer but I am reading much of this page and from what I see online Communication/Organization need to be a core area and that requires training.

Well spoken.
Now we are faced with a test. There are unidentified men in Portland right now abducting citizens illegally. If they are in fact federal agents, they are out of their jurisdiction and are operating unlawfully. My guess is that they are Mercenaries operating lawlessly. This is the moment when our government has truly gone rogue and is acting illegally. This is in Portland but as expressed by AG Barr, this is ....“just the beginning of the crackdown”.   It’s coming to your city soon enough.
Do we stand by as government troops abduct people off of the streets? Do we stand by as federal agents break the law?

The Governor and AG of Oregon have threatened to “sue” the feds in retaliation.  This has to be the most impotent response that I can imagine. Like a scared puppy, the Governor and AG have rolled over on their backs and wet themselves in fear. These mystery troops are operating with impunity. We don’t even know who they are! We could be next on their agenda of terror and intimidation.
This is not the America I love. Feds do not abduct citizens. And who are they abducting? Who are the targets of this intimidation campaign? A bunch of liberals flying signs and yelling that “Black Lives Matter”. Who cares? Let them rant. Big deal, they are powerless. Of course if they break the law, you arrest them.
So it is time to decide: Do we stand by as the government tramples the rights of Americans? This is the start of a very dangerous progression.  We could be next. It is imperative that we get to the bottom of this.

Incorrect.  If you attack a Federal Facility or break the law on Federal property they have jurisdiction.  Some of the events taking place are on Federal property and they are actively looking for people who have vandalized or damaged Federal property.

You don't know that... I am only bringing that specific instance up because I knew what it was... This is a big issue here and elsewhere is people ASSUMING an event or something they saw on Fox News and CNN or otherwise and starting off fundamentally wrong in their assumption to base the rest of the thread, comment section, or conversation off of...

The Federal Agents in question are Customs and Border Patrol, activated specifically to deal with the threat against federal property (legally, I might add). There is nothing nefarious about it, and nothing mysterious; it's right on their website. The agents in question removed their names from their uniforms because doxxing is such a big thing (and there's no requirement that they have their name on their uniform, particularly when it puts them or their families in danger).

The "unidentified stormtroopers in camouflage and unmarked vehicles" nonsense is the entire Leftist talking point checklist. There's no decision to be made; authorities in Portland refuse to allow police to do their jobs, including protecting federal buildings, monuments, and for that matter employees. The government, and AG Barr, are well within their rights to do what they've done, and should be doing it.

The only reason to be upset is that the Leftists in control of Oregon, and Portland in particular, won't do it on their own. We're a nation of law and order; they're letting that break down for political reasons, and spewing their talking points only adds fuel to that fire that should have been put out a long time ago.

The threat is a conglomeration of outright marxist and anarchist movements (the typical useful idiots of marxists), and not necessarily highly organized ones but able to muster numbers and execute very loose operational plans within a short time frame.  They have moved into overt action against fundamental institutions and traditions with the ultimate goal to destabilize the current republic and establish a socialist state. Falling short of that they have appear willing to settle for autonomous socialist and ethno-based enclaves.

Their immediate short term goals are to continue and escalate disruption of normal Americans lives and demoralization of governmental entities such as law enforcement, the military, and city, state, and federal government wherever possible while attempting to rewrite the average Americans views of themselves and all aspects of their country to be more sympathetic of their long term goals.

Correct. And it is our job as Militia (and more importantly our duty as Americans) to support and defend those entities and institutions of government from the planned and coordinated attacks upon them. The notion that we are "anti-government" is incorrect. In fact, we are very pro-government, when the government is acting according to the laws of the land (the primary of which is the United States Constitution) and is governing with the consent of the governed (which by a large majority, it is).

Our message must be--and my personal message is, loudly and proudly--"we have your six". This is the message I would pass to the military in general and LAW ENFORCEMENT in particular.

What is happening in Portland is criminal...but the crime is being committed by the government of Portland in particular, Oregon in general, and the lawless "protestors" who are not assembling "peaceably". They endanger lives and property every second they continue their behavior--and every second it is tolerated and even overtly supported by the fools at the helm of Portland's government.

Make no mistake--there are many cities vying for the title, but Portland, Oregon is the epicenter of all that is wrong in this country right now. It is the perfect example of the cesspool that awaits us if we don't turn back this tide and return our nation to the founding AMERICAN principles. That includes ending the threat of "rewriting our history and the average American's view of ourselves and all aspects of our country".

People have the right to peaceably assemble; I and every good American accepts this. They have the right to maintain, and even share, their ill-conceived opinions, no matter how moronic they may be; I and every good American accepts this. They do NOT have the right to terrorize, loot, burn, topple, vandalize, assault, or any of the other criminal activities the people in Portland have engaged in for more than a month, virtually unchecked.

Being stupid isn't illegal. Saying stupid things isn't illegal. Gathering peaceably with others to say stupid things isn't illegal. They've crossed way past that line. Ted Wheeler won't do anything about it...so the feds will. And we have their six. End of story.

And also to ROFCB

1st point.

I absolutely agree with said above.

However. Now we can support the police and and the system that works properly.

while at the same time condem the injustice in the system when it exists.

Ive heard of horror stories of qualified immunity getting police a free pass. I've heard of no knock Warrants getting kids and innocents killed. It's actually the first time I've agreed ever with the dems I'd like no knock warrants abolished. If some one breaks down my door at 2am my first thought will not be its the police. I'm probably gonna shoot them.

2nd point the good guys still run most of the country. But if that changes our tactics will have to change and become more focused.

Ok now the good news. I don't see the POTUS floppy this year that gives us 4 years to build yet.

most dems I've talked to are terrified of being doxed by antifa cuz now they come for dems too.

ive had a dem ask me to teach him how to use a gun cuz he don't trust the system to save him any more. I believe reality is setting in for these ppl. And many dems believe sleepy joe has dementia.

The word "militia" very sadly has been bastardized by those who want to look the part and it has reduced the image of the real militias.

It is important for everyone to remember, you do NOT have to be white, hetrasexual, Christian and Republican to love your country. In addition, you do not necessarily have to take a combative role. If someone approached me asking about the militia but wasn't certain if they could take another human life, I feel it would be better to have that person in a non-combative supporting role than not at all. This is where keyboard warriors come in, among other things. They could be a public and L.E. liaison, the could be a medic, they could be a cook, radio operator, etc, etc.

I agree... waiting until the Gov’t to fail and be the last line of defense with the “very few” patriots you may (or may not) be able to depend on is just not going to work. The Antifa people and their supporters may just be using fireworks and torches now; but when things go really bad they will pull out the guns and do what’s needed. Remember — they can mobilize 100’s and/or 1000’s of people on short notice as they have demonstrated before... and who do you think the Feds will chase first— them or us?

The sad part of this is that most of the useful idiots they muster are just cannon fodder covering the leaders of the movement and their criminal behavior.  Our challenge is getting past their stupidity and the our is not just the militia but the country as a whole.  Many of these brainwashed zombies have no thoughts of their own other that what they have been taught by the leftist liberals running the educational system.

Is this a lost cause that will come down a fight between good and evil?  It may.  But what we can do in the interim to prevent this is be smarter than their leadership. Elect people that are patriots and that will not stand for this lawlessness. Start petitions getting the bad ones out of power. To our lawyers, start suing the crap out of them. Use all legal tools we have available.  Get on school boards and toss out the support of a liberal agenda.  Make the curriculum true and not revisionist or anti American.  Start pushing for arrests of these people and made the politicians aware that their careers are short lived if they don’t start putting the will of the people first and put an end to these free for all demonstrations.

I agree with those recommendations; but people who support them are in the minority which is the reason those issues are affecting us now. I do not believe we will ever be able to muster the votes or political capital to make changes even at the local level. The mess in politics and schools will only get worse as more Democrats get into office and progress their Liberal agenda— Seattle and Portland are the future of this country unfortunately.

I’m a bit more optimistic and believe that that majority of the country does not want what the socialists are selling. Just look at how many new people comment on this site every day.  With a good message we should be able to get these patriots to stand up unafraid and it is our obligation to tell as many as we can every day to start standing up. Even if they don’t want to join a militia, they can help by us identifying supportive politicians and getting them out to vote for those like minded candidates.    And telling their friends.

Being silent and lurking in the shadows waiting for something to happen is not where we should be.

To everyone reading this, I have my Trump 2020 flag out.  Do you? Are you going to whine about Seattle and Portland and New York, and Chicago etc. or be part of the solution and stand up for what you believe in?  It’s bigger than just having your gun ready and waiting for this anarchy to come to your area. Do things now that don’t include the gun.  Everyone on this site can make a difference.  Go get em!

I agree with what you are saying—it’s just without the numbers to vote in change and a new direction nothing is going to be different. It is in my humble opinion that those who believe in our cause and ideas are outnumbered now... and it will be worse in the future.  More power to you if you can pull it off.

I have seen these militia videos on YT, and most are not what is needed. A visual image of over weight guys playing soldier, guys that should be getting in shape, and realize they are no longer 20. My own opinion is militia should be ghost, not seen until needed as the last line of defense. No image is better than the unfit militia image, the militia bombing, or the kill everything image most people have. We are not here to be in the spotlight at all.

I don't believe we are outnumbered at all. In fact, I believe we thoroughly outnumber them. What we are is outworked, outhustled, and--unlike us--they are outspoken. We, as a class, are afraid. Timid. We let them bully us and don't push back. And I don't mean by lining up with rifles outside of a building--I mean in the political arena, and in the theater of ideas.

Us--"All lives matter."

Them--YOU'RE A RACIST PIG!

The conversation dies right there. Nevermind that we're right. Nevermind that by saying we're racist, they are the racists! Nevermind that there's no hit of racism to the statement "all lives matter" and in fact it's the least-racist, most anti-racist statement that could be made--they shout "RACIST" and we cower in the corner. And the PIG part is ignored altogether.

They're bullies, and rather than do what we've been taught since childhood when confronted with a bully, we just hand them our lunch money and hope we can avoid them for the rest of the day. THAT is why it seems we're outnumbered--we're too busy hiding from them for our true numbers (and strength) to show itself.

As for the solution to the Militia image problem, there is only one--and nobody who's been in the movement for any length of time is going to like it.

That solution is to start from scratch, and rebuild the brand. Eliminate the "militia" concept altogether--because firstly it is woefully inaccurate, and secondly, it's tarnished beyond repair. That isn't to say that the idea, even the theory, behind the original Militia movement can't be salvaged and actually pushed forward--it can, and in actuality it must--but it can't be done from the ground we currently occupy

Most of you know I'm at work on this exact solution (with others; I'm not a one-man-band). It's had to take new form from what was originally intended, because the concept is too broad in scope and unwieldy to be done the way I and my team had originally conceived it. But it's being done.

Where it goes when the preparatory work is done is up to all of you. If you take it and run with it, it will succeed. If you don't, it won't.

Here's a teaser...
