This video is a classic.

This is a good one but true. I’ve been giving my wife lessons on using and firing our AR.  Hasn’t lost or dropped it yet.

Biden is an idiot.  this is what the demorats have chosen to lead the country. If you’re still registered as a Democrat, switch parties or become an Independent. Losing membership in droves would really send the leadership a message and make them more irrelevant.

I remember reading the following question:  given that the early smoothbore muskets -- "firelocks" -- were inferior to longbows in almost every respect, comparing one weapon to another ... why did muskets replace longbows?

And the answer was: it took years of frequent practice to become a good archer, but almost no training at all  -- just a few weeks -- to load, level and fire a musket, standing in the ranks. So you could replace self-respecting yeomen archers with kids from the slums for your army.

Range, power, maintenance and cost. A musket cost more than a bow but the difference was more than made up for in maintenance. A musket hits harder and further than most bows (fun fact; bows were used during the Revolution alongside muskets) and the ammunition was smaller and lighter; leading to an overall reduction in weight.

Perhaps most importantly a musket could have a bayonet which made it useful in close combat unlike the bow. It is an objectively better weapon in ninety percent of situations.

I’m not saying I’d use it in battle all I said is why it changed for more range

just like when I hunt deer . I like my bow but when muzzleloader season comes I’m jumping on that for MORE RANGE

i would use it to gather food silently no doubt just like I said it’s a tool

Some of the best discussion I’ve heard in a long while. This is serious stuff, no games.   It would be good to put out a shopping list, minimum kit bag to start out with. Thanks for the talk.

Yes that’s a good idea to start a new topic

Have a gear list for on the go or short stays to long term for patriots not too familiar.

1.food

2.shelter

3.weapons

4.survival tools
and whatever else.

Then when the SHTF you not scrambling

I do it for all my activities because I always leave something behind that would have been useful. It’s a live, learn and document. Otherwise you end up with bunch of crap you don’t need or do need so I will narrow it down.

hunting

camping

snowmobiling

hiking
As well as appropriate seasonal gear
