We have already started this move. Every single rally in our area we reach out to LEO and inform them that we are going to be there as an extra set of eyes. We go to watch over the community. We ask them how we can assist them. The responses have been beyond fantastic. Every single time they are grateful for our presence, which allows them to focus more on the task at hand.

They either tell us full uniforms or street clothes to blend in. We have proven ourselves to them a few times. I have been busting my butt with t he state of Tennessee, but without more activity and involvement by other members, it is going to be a long road. I have worked hard to get COMMS open with other states but that take a level of dedication that not all can spare. Life has a way of getting in the way of our mission, but those of us who choose to be persistent are seeing some progress

I'm in West Islip as well, just signed up after lurking because I saw @ Bulldog was right near me. I haven't really looked around for this because too many people were not serious about it. Now that things are heating up more people are realizing they need to prepare themselves to protect their families and properties. As a former Infantry squad leader and combat vet from the Army I've been NCOIC for several battalion sized ranges and have some good training I can pass on to peers and can be a reliable asset for the community.

That sounds great but that's in TN what about Long island what can we do here?

The only thing i can suggest is get your guys active and discuss what is going to benefit your group and area best. We here in the Volunteer State feel it is best to be on the good side of the law. They know we are here, and they have been to our training grounds. Just find a guy who is good at speaking to do your bidding with any LEO if that is the way you choose to go.

Which range were you thinking of? Calverton? This weekend is too short notice for me since I already scheduled things for the extended weekend. But I can accommodate any date after.

I’m in Shirley and I most definitely think that we should all meet up… but I don’t think the range is the best place. William Wallace’s uncle said you have to first learn to use your mind before you can learn to use your sword. I’m sure if you’re on this site you’re fairly proficient with the sword, but as it stands, we’re a few dozen dudes with a few different ideas of what a militia should be – especially a militia on our beloved island. I think a militia on Long Island would be considerably different than a militia anywhere else. We will have to be well-spoken, outspoken, and of one accord. Our training would have to be specifically developed for this climate – for our region. I think the best way to do that is coffee. Just a couple of dudes meeting up at a diner grabbing a cup of joe, talking about our families and the state of our island – and how we can better them to the best of our abilities.
