Question for the Readers

In my last post I was looking for an answer to a question but I think I made the question too complicated.  What exactly would you like to get out of belonging to a militia?  It's really hard to make something when no one knows what it should look like.

Other then what is explained in the dictionary and the Second Amendment, I think we all have a common goal to protect the US constitution, Alaska state constitution, and our families. We have proven that by joining a militia.

I think a militia should consist of people with a diversity of experience and occupations that can come together to make the group stronger not only by physical action but, intellectually as well. I think that we have an obligation to serve our community in time of need, as well as educating people about their rights and how valuable they are. If we can do this collectively we will attract more like minded people with a multitude of different experience that will add to the strength of the militia. These are a few ideas of what I think a militia should be but, this is the first time I have joined a militia so I may be missing something.

If anyone could add to this or give any advice it would be welcome.

I do not believe in a virtual militia! They do not have a virtual Antifa or BLM! Our ancestors were united because they had common beliefs that were expressed by meeting and discussing their goals, hopes, fears and concerns for the community and then the nation. This is what men have been doing since the beginning of time. It is our natural state to meet and discuss. We were not designed to type our thoughts on to the screen and never see the readers acceptance or disagreement. The public square or the pulpit were the platforms that expressed the ideas that laid the foundation of a strong community. Nothing will ever be accomplished digitally.

I do not know where or when, but we all need to meet.

I think at least the 3 of us are on the same page.  Some how, some way we need to get together and come up with a plan on how we want to organize.  Whenever I have worked on any type of 'organizational' project, the first thing that I have done is develop a 'Purpose Statement'.  It doesn't have to be long but it should be succinct enough to give an over view as to why we exist.  Example:  "The purpose of the 907 Militia is to organize and train like minded individuals to support and assist our local communities while protecting the constitutions of our federal and state governments."  That could use a lot of work but it's illustrative of what we are looking for.  Suggestions?

I can't like this post enough. Well written Mission Statements are worth their weight in gold.

Thanks Skillet.  Since you are a Super Admin, is there a process to ratify or make official whatever organizational structure that we come up with?

No everything is entirely up to you all.  One thing we do ask is if you form a group setup a private group so you're not doing all of your group business in the area code topic part. Then you can use the Area code side to promote and recruit.
