I am considering giving the HiPoint 4595 stock a paint job.  Mostly earth tones.  Has anyone painted their stock?  I am going to break the weapon down and forego painting the barrel at this time.  The dust cover and stock will get de-greased prior to painting but I was curious if I need to add clear coating or just add a few layers of paint and leave it at that?

Any advise helpful.

I haven't painted mine yet but I did get some different colors of Krylon camouflage flat paints and some Birchwood Casey gun scrubber off of Amazon in preparation of doing a couple of my guns.  Also got some camo stencil painting decals and a mesh laundry bag for blending and feathering the paint to get rid of some of the sharp edges.

I was just going to use brake cleaner to scrub the stock.  Perhaps I need to investigate the gun scrubber solvent.

I've heard brake cleaner will work, it's around the same cost per can so I just decided to get the gun scrubber because I can use it in my regular gun cleaning as well as the paint preparation.
