The Army’s groundbreaking long-range cannon hit a target 43 miles away over the weekend, military officials said, marking another successful test of an artillery system that the Pentagon says will give the U.S. a major battlefield advantage over foes such as China and Russia.

The latest test of the Extended Range Cannon Artillery (ERCA) system took place at Arizona’s Yuma Proving Ground. The cannon launched an Excalibur extended-range artillery shell and scored a direct hit on its target.

Experts Warn Turkey's Dreams of Reviving the Ottoman Empire Threaten Mideast Stability

JERUSALEM, Israel – For years, Middle East observers have warned about the expansionist policies of Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Those ambitions reach throughout the region all the way to Jerusalem.

"I think Turkey is the major emerging threat to the Middle East,” Seth Frantzman, executive director of the Middle East Center for Reporting and Analysis, told CBN News.

Analysts like Frantzman say the world is witnessing a belligerent Turkey on the move.

"It's invaded and ethnically cleansed Afrin of Kurds, Yazidis, and Christians. It attacked last year in eastern Syria and attacked and ethnically cleansed Christians,” Frantzman explained.

“It's attacked Armenia now. It didn't do it directly, but it basically goaded Azerbaijanis into war.  And it's also been involved in Libya and sent Syrian mercenaries,” he continued. “Also, Turkey's been threatening Greece every few weeks for the last six months; also, Cyprus, Israel, Egypt, UAE. I mean, it never stops."

Iran: Israeli sub in Gulf will be met with 'strong and massive' response

After report of Israeli vessel entering Suez Canal, Tehran says Jerusalem 'looking for excuses to drag the region into a tension that creates chaos in the last days of the Trump presidency', threatens Arab states with new Israel ties

Iran warned Sunday that it will not hesitate to react to any Israeli submarine is found in the Persian Gulf with a “strong and massive” response.

“Israel must know that our response to aggression against our national security will be strong and massive,” Abu al-Fadl Amoui, a spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, told Al-Jazeera Arabic.

“Israel is looking for excuses to drag the region into a tension that creates chaos in the last days of the Trump presidency,” the official added, referring to departing U.S. Donald Trump.

Amoui also threatened neighboring Arab nations who have normalized ties with Israel or have clandestine relations, warning that bringing Jerusalem too close to Iran's borders would spark a dangerous reaction.

US B-52 bombers headed to Mid East amid intel of ‘complex attack planning’ against Americans in Iraq

U.S. Air Force B-52H Stratofortress bombers made a “deliberate appearance” in the Middle East on Tuesday to deter potential attacks against U.S. troops amid intelligence showing “complex attack planning” in Iraq.

A CENTCOM statement provided to American Military News confirmed the deployment of the two bombers from Minor Air Force Base’s 5th Bomb Wing, adding that the deployment “delivers a clear deterrent message to anyone who intends to do harm to Americans or American interests.”

“The United States continues to deploy combat-ready capabilities into the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility to deter any potential adversary, and make clear that we are ready and able to respond to any aggression directed at Americans or our interests,” said Gen. Frank McKenzie, Commander, U.S. Central Command. “We do not seek conflict, but no one should underestimate our ability to defend our forces or to act decisively in response to any attack.”

Military bracing for attack on U.S. forces in Iraq on one year anniversary of strike that killed Iranian top general Qasem Soleimani

  • Military leaders are concerned there could be an attack in the coming days against U.S. troops in Iraq
  • 'I would tell you that the threat streams are very real,' a senior official said, warning there is concern of a 'complex attack'
  • The official also characterized the situation as the 'most concerning that I have seen' since Iranian General Qasem Soleimani's killing on January 3, 2020.
  • The year anniversary of the drone strike that took out Soleimani is approaching
  • Donald Trump is returning from his Mar-a-Lago vacation early on Thursday
  • Some claim he could be skipping his New Year's Even Gala, in part, because of the threat of a retaliatory attack

One year after U.S. forces assassinated Iranian revered general Qasem Soleimani, a senior official warned Wednesday that the 'threat' coming from Iran is the 'most concerning' yet.

'I would tell you that the threat streams are very real,' the senior official told The Washington Post, warning there is concern of a 'complex attack'.

The official also characterized the situation as the 'most concerning that I have seen' since Soleimani's killing on January 3, 2020.

Specifically, U.S. officials are bracing for an attack from Iran on U.S. forces and troops in Iraq as tensions between Iraq's Washington-backed premier and pro-Tehran forces appeared to have reached a boiling point.

These pro-Iranian forces accuse Iraq's Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi of complicity in the Baghdad drone strike.

The Middle Eastern leader has urged calm but warned: 'We are ready for a decisive confrontation if necessary'.

President Donald Trump sent shock waves through the region almost one year ago to the day with the targeted killing of Soleimani and his Iraqi lieutenant, which infuriated the Islamic republic and its allies.

Reaper drones to Taiwan a game changer

The Air Force has been adding new weapons to the MQ-9 Reaper, in part by leveraging an emerging 'universal weapons interface'

The lethal MQ-9 Reaper drone isn’t often exported, but Taiwan wants it — and the Trump administration is all too happy to sell it, along with a formidable upgrade package, Kris Osborn of The National Interest reported.

Thanks to China’s sabre rattling over a possible amphibious assault on Taiwan with drills and combat preparation operations in waters nearby, and Xi Jinping’s escalating language about possible forcible reunification, the diminutive democratic island really didn’t have much lobbying to do.

In fact, Xi is the best salesman of fear one could ever have, and it has led to a US State Department Congressional notification, a move which could massively improve Taiwan’s electronic eyes on vital areas of the Chinese coastline and waters between them and the mainland.

With the current “gray zone” bombardment of relentless Chinese incursions into the ADIZ, off the coast of Taiwan, this news couldn’t have come at a better time.

Here's some hype from our friends from across the pond.

Russia set to test 15,000mph nuke missile that can ‘beat any defence and destroy Texas’

The RS-28 Sarmat doomsday missile is destined to replace the feared R-36

By Jon Lockett  2 Jan 2021, 12:53  Updated: 2 Jan 2021, 13:22

RUSSIA is poised to test an "unstoppable" 15,000mph nuclear missile it boasts can beat any defense and wipe out Texas.

The RS-28 Sarmat doomsday rocket is now primed to replace the much-feared R-36 - once dubbed the "Satan" nuke by Nato.

The Kremlin brags it has a range of around 6,200 miles, can carry 16 warheads and is able to dodge any missile defense system.

Its huge payload is capable of destroying an area the size of the Lone Star State according to Zvezda, the Russian defence ministry’s TV channel.

The introduction of the long-heralded weapon has been pushed back multiple times amid delays in testing, reports The Times.

But Alexei Krivoruchko - Russia's deputy defence minister - revealed long-distance launches are now imminent.

He said: "I will note that ejection tests of the Sarmat missile are completed with positive results.

"In the near future we will begin carrying out flight tests of this rocket complex."

Krivoruchko then chillingly added: "By virtue of its capabilities, no missile defense weapon, even the most advanced, can hinder it."

Russia is planning to flight test its new intercontinental ballistic missile which it claims is capable of destroying an area the size of France.

The RS-18 Sarmat will be capable of unleashing ten large thermonuclear warheads or 16 smaller ones, or a combination of both, to overwhelm enemy missile defences, according to the Russian Ministry of Defence.

The 100-ton strategic missile is said to be able to travel around 6,200 miles and has the capacity to wipe out areas the size of Texas or France.

Each of the warheads are allegedly capable of being aimed at a different target.

The development comes as Russia's defence minister reported to President Vladimir Putin that a new hypersonic weapon of intercontinental range became operational in December following years of tests.

Iran Revolutionary Guards ‘seize South Korean-flagged tanker in Persian Gulf on route to UAE’

The moment the oil tanker is escorted Iran's Revolutionary Guards

By Mark Hodge   4 Jan 2021, 12:13 Updated: 5 Jan 2021, 0:54

IRAN's Revolutionary Guards have seized a South Korean-flagged tanker in the Persian Gulf, it has been reported.

The MT Hankuk Chemi was reportedly stopped by Iranian authorities over alleged “oil pollution”, the Tehran-backed Fars News agency reports.

It was reportedly en route to UAE from Saudi Arabia when it was stopped. Pictures have emerged showing Iranian navy boats escorting the huge tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement by Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC) Navy, the tanker was reported to be carrying 7,200 tonnes of ethanol, which is now being held in Iran's port city of Bandar Abbas, Iranian news site, Press TV reports.

It also stated that the tanker's crew, made up of mostly South Koreans and others from Vietnam, Indonesia and Myanmar have now been detained.

The case will be handed over to Iranian judicial officials to investigate after the ship is said to have violated maritime environmental laws, according to reports.

At max speed, new Iran enrichment could cut nuke breakout to 6 weeks

By YONAH JEREMY BOB   JANUARY 4, 2021 18:14

A lot is not known about Iran’s newly announced move on Monday to enrich uranium up to the 20% level, but at maximum speed, a top nuclear expert has told The Jerusalem Post that its nuclear breakout time to a bomb could be cut to only six weeks.

Institute for Science and International Security president David Albright said that there were many variables, such as how many IR-1, IR-2ms or even IR-4 or IR-6 centrifuges were being used.

Albright also said that as long as the Islamic Republic was stopping at the 20% level, ironically, it could take six months or more to significantly cut down the breakout time to a nuclear weapon.

Currently, experts have said that even as Tehran has enough low-level enriched uranium for several nuclear bombs, that because it has not gone above the 5% enrichment level, it remains around three months away.

Basically, the idea is that the ayatollahs continue to enrich uranium at the same level so that their potential for more nuclear bombs increases, while they do not actually come any closer to their first actual nuclear weapon.

My question is. If WE know about an Ohio class nuclear submarine in the Persian Gulf, (which seems to me should be classified), what is it that we don't know? What is the hand we can't see doing?

That's just my name.

The Blackout War: China, Russia And Iran Building Super-EMP Bombs for ‘Blackout Warfare’

Several nations, including China and Russia, are building powerful nuclear bombs designed to produce super-electromagnetic pulse (EMP) waves capable of devastating all electronics—from computers to electric grids—for hundreds of miles, according to a newly-released congressional study.

A report by the now-defunct Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from EMP Attack, for the first time reveals details on how nuclear EMP weapons are integrated into the military doctrines of China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran.

The report discloses how those states could use EMP attacks in theaters of battle in the Middle East, Far East, Europe, and North America.

“Nuclear EMP attack is part of the military doctrines, plans, and exercises of Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran for a revolutionary new way of warfare against military forces and civilian critical infrastructures by cyber, sabotage, and EMP,” the report states.

“This new way of warfare is called many things by many nations: In Russia, China, and Iran it is called Sixth Generation Warfare, Non-Contact Warfare, Electronic Warfare, Total Information Warfare, and Cyber Warfare.”

You know things are heating up in Ladakh when Indian Air Force (IAF) officials go all the way to France to see how their Rafale fighter jet order is going.

They need those jets now … not a year from now, not two years from now.

Not with a belligerent and unrelenting China on its doorstep.

According to a report from Peter Suciu at National Interest, IAF bigwigs headed last week to the Dassault Aviation plant near Bordeaux–Mérignac, France to check on the progress of the second batch of jet fighters, which could soon be deployed to guard the country’s northeastern border with China.

India, which has ordered thirty-six of the twin-engine, canard delta wing, multirole fighter aircraft, received the first batch on Sept. 10 and immediately deployed those to the contested Ladakh region.
