Hello & welcome. In todays world theres alot of talk about gear and guns. lots of opinions, lots of misinformation. I've attached a list that goes over weapons, armor, & belt. if you want the quick version, go to the pic. Let me take a hot minute & go over the choices & upgrades. I will be stating things people dont like (if this is you, please move on) FBI has determined the 9mm is the best "overall" pistol round. It is a NATO round. It is the most popular round, making up more than 30% of pistol ammo out there. Glock is the standard. Get some sights with tritium (I recommend Fision sights) & keep everything else stock. Accessories are made for glock 1st, so its easy to find stuff. Glock models 19, 45, & 17 are all 9mm. All can take glock 17 magazines. While surefire is the best out there, stream lights are a good value. I have 2 weapon light listed. Carrying spare batteries is a good idea. The rifle light takes CR123s or an18659. Links to rechargable batteries for them; CR123s https://www.batteryjunction.com/nitecore-nl166.html 1 18650 https://www.batteryjunction.com/nitecore-nl1835.html they also have 18650 for those low temp regions https://www.batteryjunction.com/nitecore-nl1829-ltp-low-temp-rechargeable-18650.html AR is in the top 3 most used rifles in the world. PSA is the lowest standard I would go. If you are going to be putting alot of rounds through & taking multiple training courses upgrade to a Daniel Defense. The closer the gas block is to you on the barrel, the quicker the gun will wear down parts. rifle length is impractical for room clearing, mid-length is the best all around. https://danieldefense.com/rifles/modern-sporting-rifles.html?caliber=6&mounting_system=390&rifle_gas_system=102 Here's my post about ballistic plates, https://www.mymilitia.com/forums/topic/63915-where-to-begin-with-plates/ I'm not going to go over that again here. I'm of the mindset of fight light. During my deployment I had neck guard, shoulder guards, side plates, nut flap, ballistic diaper (idk real name, thats what we called it), and secondary kevlar. Not to mention all the other crap we had to carry. The Veritas carrier is great because its scalable. You can have the options of traditional sides & even get pouches for side plates. The way the front is setup you can even attach chest rigs like the spiritus M4. https://www.spiritussystems.com/micro-fight-chassis-mk4/ Speaking of the spiritus M4. The M4 is highly modular & allows you to also have a stand alone chest rig which serves 2 purposes & saves money in the long run. The KWYIs are one of the best mag pouches out there (along with scorpion & taco pouches) and the cheapest (compared to the other 2). Having just a single row of mags on your carrier if going to allow you to get close to the ground, so don't go putting alotta crap on there. If you're running the M4 as a chest rig, you can throw some more mags in its front pocket. here's a vid of some of the accessories of the M4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Igh7_IQs_4 Hydration is a must. Source makes some great bladders & they range from 1-3L. Make sure to choose wisely depending on your climate, activity, & mission. There's alot of packs out there, make sure they have quality stitching, zippers, & hook/loop (velcro). Blue Alpha Belts are top tier. For an extra $40-80 you can upgrade to a belt that has molle & a D-ring (if you need them). I like these belts because they sandwich your belt loops, so its not pushing your pants around while running or creating hot spots & making you sweat because it too wide. Its easy to put on & off, & store. They're hand made in the USA. IFAK (individual first aid) pouches are all over the place, alot of companies. Make sure its in a place you can reach it with both hands & that it isn't going to impede your movements. AR500 has had the best value "gut" (med kit for IFAKs) that I've seen, most are twice the price or more. There are also many TQs (tourniquets) out there. The CAT (combat action TQ) is probably one of the most used & the one I'm most familiar with. Some dont work as advertised so do your homework. Safariland is, again, one of the best brands. The ALS holster has a thumb button to release the pistol. It's very secure, & very intuitive. Getting the QLS would be of help taking it off or switch to something else. Stay away from drop legs, they move all over the place when running & doing drills. at most go with a mid drop. see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQIi3SsdT-Y&t=41s The one I listed below covers the rear site. I've had holster in the past that didnt & my rear site has been knocked out of zero a couple times. If you were to get the holster before you got the light for your pistol, it would still retain the gun. If you have a HAM license go get the radio that you know will do all the things. Baofeng uv5r is popular in milsim, militia, & preparedness communities. Its a good value for what it is. the push to talk mic mounted on ones shoulder is easy to get to, & if you're using an earpiece or a hearing protection headset, you can plug right into it. At the top of the pick you can see the price for all of the gear is under $3k & it weighs less than 40lbs. I couldnt find exact weights to some of these & my home scales battery is dead, so I gave my best guess. The pricing I over estimated much of it. Some things, such as the water bladder & IFAK) have wide variety of price so I went somewhere in the middle. I hope this was helpful & a good place to either create a standard in your group, or just help out folks that are new to all this.

Claw hammer I don’t know you and I am not one to assume anything of anyone. First off clearly not the ATF and I admit that I didn’t account for the paranoia of the ATF watching every move that you undoubtably make. (Not trying to be a smart ass) I get that one can master most any skill with training I have some experience in mastering odd skills just for shits and giggles. My point is once applied a bumpstock loses ergonomics and becomes a designated system. Therefore it greatly limits its usability to be a diverse system. Many squad automatic weapons can be hip fired/ shoulder fired with relevant accuracy but they remain a support system. The benefit of selecting a fire rate is a outstanding advantage of the M4 system. Many civilian AR builds are not of significant reliability to withstand the rigors of continuous full rates of fire. But once again as I have stated before that’s the point of the second amendment YOU have that choice and can put whatever you desire on your platform. I won’t argue with you further about something as irrelevant as a bumpstock. Trump isn’t my guy and I didn’t assume that he was yours either. WE DO NOT HAVE A PERFECT SYSTEM but it remains a far better system than the rest of the options available. If your goal is to believe that some how we could get to a constitutional Pres. I would full heartily support one. At this moment we only can pick from the options that are presented. hopefully we agree with some issues and agree to disagree with the others i am not here to change your beliefs or SOP just replying with respect for your comment and again have a blessed day

Yes, I’m a Millennial. Sounding off from Manchester. Are we talking Constitutional Militia, or an excuse for Anarchists to start “boogaloo” bullshit? I took an Oath to the Constitution, and if someone in any militia I join takes issue with that or won’t do the same? Then I’m not with them.

The Salvation Army as Logistics Source

I believe every militia unit should have a small fund for buying cheap things that would be useful in a situation where they are mobilized. At the Salvation Army thrift shops, and similar shops, the following things can be found for very low prices: (1) Sheets and blankets. Sheets can be dyed, and become camouflage netting. String some strong twine along their edges, and you've got a method of concealing things you want to conceal from prying drones. Or of introducing uncertainty into enemy aerial photo runs. (2) Tools. Who is going to bring his personal expensive tool box to a mobilization? Better to have a collectively-owned set of cheap tools -- saws, pry bars, etc -- bought in thrift shops and at garage sales -- which no one worries about too much when they have to move from one place to another. A militia unit which expands to a reasonable size will have a combat engineering section, and their tool set shouldn't have to be entirely the personal property of its members. There are dozens of other things that could prove of use to a militia unit in an actual mobilization: I've seen tailor's dummies, camping gear, clothes, cooking utensils, etc etc. If these can be acquired for a few dollars, they could prove useful in an emergency. Just an idea. Behind this idea is the following thought: a militia unit should be more than a collection of individuals. It should have a unit identity and be able to do things as a unit that a collection of individuals cannot do. This ought to include ownership of items that will be useful to the unit as a whole.

Two years in the making. There have been massive attempts to give this state its unified militia. We are pushing it now more than ever. The structure is tested and sound. The training is as well. The formats that all these little "groups" including TSM are using, are obviously not working. There is no communication. There is no leadership. There is no accountability and there is no direction. All units come to the table. You have literally nothing to lose and EVERYTHING to gain.

I can't think of anything to comment so I'm just going to post a Blueberry pancake recipe. 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 1/4 teaspoons white sugar 1 egg 1 cup milk 1/2 tablespoon butter, melted 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, thawed 1. In a large bowl, sift together flour, salt, baking powder and sugar. In a small bowl, beat together egg and milk. Stir milk and egg into flour mixture. Mix in the butter and fold in the blueberries. Set aside for 1 hour. 2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

Sure let's meet up sometime and run drills... oh wait it would make you a felon. Nice try atf.. they did come in plastic or metal btw. People who did master it could accurately hit things. Again not really the entire point but if you feel the need to argue why squad rifles in the military are pointless then.. I guess you can do that. So people go to the lesser of two evils speech for anytime you need to defend your guy. Which is annoying how the two party system corrupted the entire process we had. To the point you cant even get a constitutional president to even win.

Let me see if I can unpack this argument 1. is Trump better than Hillary ( she was the only opponent so we can’t compare his presidency to anyone else) answer: most likely yes. Why most likely I don’t have a crystal ball to see what she would have been like. 2. has Trump lived up to his campaign promises? answer : yes and no ,but considering the extreme opposition he faces on a daily basis he’s done pretty good. 3. Has he overstepped his powers (the original topic) that question is a HEAVY debate and in no way could a forum like this take on that. 4. Trump isn’t the devil but nor is he our savior he has waxed and wained on topics of significant importance. I am thankful that he has far exceeded my hopes for his current presidency and pray that he will continue to better ALL of AMERICAN while he can. if anyone here is seriously saying that a bumpstock is a force multiplier please let’s meet up and run some serious drills you might chunk that piece of plastic after we are done. have a blessed day

I don’t agree with what the nut with the gun did. With that being said, I want to speak on the delegates speech. He speaks about how he has an office and people can talk to him there or protest there or call him there but not at his home. If he and his party pass the red flag laws or enforce any ban that should get passed, where will the enforcers go with their guns drawn? He clearly did not like the fact that anyone at anytime could just show up on his doorstep and intimidate, or worse, him. What makes him think that any citizen would not feel the same way if it happened to them because of a bill he passed? He also stated that according to the guys manifesto, the guy would use his weapon if he could not beat the delegate by convincing him, vote, or courts. If I’m not wrong, that is what we all do now, we try to convince, vote them out, or fight the law in the courts. It is only by revolt that the people use guns to unseat a tyrant. We use revolution or civil war only as a last resort to unseating tyrants as we have done in the wars we have fought on our soil. The speech is a natural progression that our country used the past. As any tyrant, he was upset because someone called him out on his tyranny and showed the fear any tyrant would have at the thought of or sight of the people coming to depose him. No I do not agree with what the man with the gun did but between that and the speech, it was a true depiction of what the tyrants can expect when the people of this country say enough is enough and it’s time to take our country back. If it would ever happen, the victor writes the history so that man could either be a hero or some nut job with a gun.

    Starting from scratch

Sir, you are EXACTLY the kind of person the militia movement needs to be composed of. There are 'extremists' about. I think some of them have been made that way by what's happening to our country. (And I'm not counting the ones who are actually ringers for the Left.) If there were a non-extreme but serious group of patriots organizing to resist the disintegration of America, perhaps some of these people wouldn't drift into the crazy politics that they do get into. There are a lot of young people hanging out in discussion boards on the 'alt-right' because there is no strong patriotic commonsense movement to attract them. The neo-Nazis and other crazies find this a fertile field. We need to work on some documents and videos about how to organize a group, how to keep it together and how to grow it. This is a task that needs a lot of work, starting now.

My goals as they pertain to my potential involvement in a militia group are essentially twofold: 1. To equip myself and fellow patriots to stand up to an abusive federal or state government, when and if necessary 2. To network with other like-minded Texans and take responsibility for keeping our families and communities safe in the event of a worst-case scenario Like anyone, I could wax on philosophically about what all that means, but that's the bottom line in plain language.

Interesting, so I guess the lesson to learn here, is that if Iran ever wants a snow balls chance in hell to defeat the USA, they need to hire a retired Marine General, or at least this one. That and I am almost certain that the US Military is running these simulation war games on that board game Risk. sitting around a table, smoking cigars, making explosion noises and drinking scotch.

Fracking Electoral College, I actually went and got a dumbed down version of the US Constitution > For Dummies > gives really good detailed reasoning and answers for the 5 W's , In it, It dives into the Electoral college. An it may be mentioned here in this video I didn't watch ( Yet ) but fun fact, ANY STATE include DEMOCRAT held states, can split the electoral votes. Only 2 states so far split votes. So, maybe the question should be if the democrats want every vote to really count, why the hell do they not split the votes in the their states, so each party gets a fair shake. With only 2 states doing this, I can't see any others joining suit any time soon. Any how we all know it isn't the Electoral College that is the problem. It is the Democrat Party as (a hole, pun intended ) that are sore losers, like a child with no social skills or manners, or anything, you lose, you scream foul, you kick and scream and cry, and then run home and tell your parents. Except now, they run to lawyers and the media and demand to find a way to erase a part of the system they cant control.

Most of the 903 AO is covered by the 15th Regiment of the Texas Milita. From clay county to, Coryell, to Sabine to Bowie, is the coverage area for 3rd brigade. Included in this is 8th, 14th,15th, 9th and 20th Regiments. The 15th is comprised of van Zandt, Kaufman, Henderson, Rains, wood, camp, upshur, Gregg, Marion, Smith and Harrison counties. Monthly training

We had a good training day on 2/16. The adjustable gas block that I was trying out was an utter failure. My rifle couldn't fire a 5 round string without jamming. So I spent the day getting lots of Tap, Rack, Bang practice in. Other than that, everything ran smoothly. Everyone preformed well and was safe. I have already removed the gas block and rebuilt the rifle with reliable parts, now it just needs to be sighted in. Follow for more updates, or to see the video of the full drill. Agreed. The ATF had to re-write their analysis of a bump stock and its function. He didn’t summit a bill or propose any new legislation he directed the ATF to revise a already written evaluation. I don’t personally care for a bumpstock my belt loop works just as well. My concern is that where does this end or what’s next? Binary triggers? Performance triggers? Could they mandate that any trigger under 8lbs of pressure is to easy to pull? To my knowledge there are already over 200 laws to regulate guns already. I would challenge anyone to find another amendment that is has had more encroachment on it. Trump is far better than Hillary but by no means is he a 2A savior, we can only hope that he doesn’t forget whom he is beholden too. With all that being said good morning to all and have a blessed day

Of all of the presidents mis-steps, this concerns me least. Every single president has pardoned convicted criminals, all the way back to George Washington. Guilt or innocence has nothing to do with it. It is a power outlined in the constitution, article 2 section 2. The president exercising his constitutional authority doesn't bother me. Him being "chief law enforcement officer" is a bit off... technically he is the chief law enforcement officers boss... They are both part of the executive branch, of which the president is the head of.

Thanks. I don't think she's a natural 'gun' type of person, although I could be wrong. But the militia movement needs to be surrounded by sympathetic people, starting with conservatives, which she most certainly is. You might think conservatives would naturally be sympathetic to the militia movement, but that's not necessarily so, since it has gotten a bad press due to a few nut cases, and this has inevitably affected the way even conservatives think about it.

This is affordable. There's a difference between cheap crap & value. yes, you could train for work-arounds for dated gear but why develop training scars? 1st & foremost; If someone is brand new to all this I would say go train at a reputable company (which will easily be north of $300). they will allow you to rent or borrow guns & gear. with that experience one should have a better idea of what they need. ammo requirements for those classes are usually around 1k rounds, which is another $200-500+ depending on the round. guns, chest rig, & a belt would be ideal, but ive met too many that get bent our of shape over armor yet arent physically fit enough to walk around (let alone do movement drills) in 30lb+ of gear. basic weapons, ammo, food , & water will get one to 30 lbs quick. this & 4G warfare should answer youre 2nd paragraph. as for your 3rd paragraph, theres so much to break off there I'll refrain & chalk it up to "thats your opinion".
  43. 1 point
Anybody got a list that people can AFFORD to buy? Remember that pistol/ammo belts and suspenders were worn for 80 years before molle "high tech" gear came on the scene. Sure, I think it's an improvement over the older stuff... but like most everything, "evolution" comes in baby steps, so it's not like a night and day difference. Not trying to start trouble, but how many of us are going to be "operators"? Now, for those that are, go for it, but the everyday militiaman/woman probably won't need, or devote enough time to be proficient with high-speed gear. On a slightly different note, but not totally unrelated, the US soldier is probably the most loaded down fighter in the world. As Militia, I think we need to re-evaluate how we approach combat. Look at the Viet Cong, or today's Taliban fighters. Your mission will dictate what you need, but that's exactly where we need to take a fresh look at things. I've long advocated for a set of tactics that favor a "shoot and scoot/hit and run" approach rather than US Army style moves. I also think we should be familiar with the US tactics, if we would need to work with them, but it's doubtful we would ever be used as first line assault troops by the Army. They rely on fire/air support, for example, which we probably won't have: our whole doctrine needs to be looked at, I think personally. Just glancing at the above list, I personally would settle for a $500.- M&P Sport II rifle, and standard GI spec mags (durable, lightweight and cheap) . Why? The firepower of most any semi-auto rifle will be about the same, as will magazine capacity. Just make sure it's reliable (I like Sport II - other makes are just as good but won't put you in debt forever). Taking an axe to the full, high tech list would save you enough to get some night vision. If you're going to invest in plates, get at least level IV. As I understand it, anything less will not stop rifle rounds: If you're going into real combat, why hump the weight if it won't do the job? Just my two cents on the matter... but I wholeheartedly agree we need to develop a "functional" list: one that won't break the bank, but gets the job done.

I read, some time ago, that about 40? of the States have "state guard/state defense" forces. These are basically a reserve/auxiliary component to the National Guard. They are associated with the state (through the NG) but, as I recall, cannot be federalized or used outside the state. These are more closely aligned with what people normally think of, when they hear the word Militia. My understanding is, these are the Governor's forces and cannot be taken from his control. There is a statewide command structure (same officers as National Guard?), and certain minimum standards to be met. Sounds good, but if you're in Virginia right now, you'd be under control of the blackface Governor. Speaking personally, I prefer a county system of strictly volunteers, taking authority from the County Sheriff; or not, depending on the circumstances.
