While I agree that the media has made the term "militia" into something nefarious, the word is a part of the Second Amendment so it is up to people like us to inform the public that it's not a bad word, but a good idea.

In reference to your comment about not sure if there’s a group in your AO, if there’s no group that you know of, be the group you seek. If you have trusted, likeminded friends, ask them if they’d be willing to get together and do some training. You can start out slow with a day at the range or talking about related topics. Maybe get online and see if there’s any reputable survival schools in your area. Activities like that are a great way of meeting other folks that may be thinking the same and wishing the same. You don’t even have to call yourself or your group a militia.
