  1. Whether by modern terminology it is a sniper or designated marksman the creed is the same - accuracy

Pray and Spray suppressive fire will keep their heads down but one shot accuracy will keep them put.

When Captain Leander McNally was equipping his newly formed Texas Rangers he ordered 50 Sharps rifles single shot

    (Quigley Down Under)

The storekeeper tried to convince him he needed to buy the new fangled Henry lever action with multi quick shots

(“The rifle you could load on Sunday and shoot all week”)

Captain McNally’s response was, “I don’t want men that need more than one shot to get the job done”

    YMMV

  2. Saiga,

Nice rifle. It appears without irons front or back so likely set up for scope.

Sporters are a sleeping value in today’s market. Not wanted by Military Collectors or the modern tactical crowd😁

Prior to the ‘68 gun control I would see a barrel full of these at hardware stores or even gas stations for $15. each

Yeah I am old but can still shoot straight.

Although the US rechambered in the superior 30-06 this was originally an English design

Smooth bolt operation ergonomic to trigger placement and easy to acquire and adjust sights made this one of the best!

    The old sayings goes:

“The US brought a target rifle (Springfield), the Germans brought a hunting rifle (Mauser) and the Brits brought a battle rifle - this

    YMMV
