Columbia was GREAT today. I wish more would have shown up but 125 to 150...not too bad. The speakers were great and folks brought their kids and dogs and the weather was perfect. God bless my great state of SC.

I looked up a couple of the SC militias on their web sites and see no activity.

I don't do the Facebook thing...advantage/disadvantage, I guess it is how one looks at it. The gun shows that I go to in Augusta,GA have had the Georgia State Guard booths there with info., same with SC. They are controlled by the governor of the state and do mostly severe weather clean up and the such.

Staying connected is very important. We can help each other stay informed about the goings on and if things get out of hand we all have each other's back.

Exactly we have to take care of our immediate family regardless and have as many local friends/allies as possible, going over plans, ideas, shooting, building supplies, etc. As an example, I just got my tech license for HAM operation and now studying for my General. I begin this summer getting MET cert and working my way up to paramedic. I encourage all to do even a little something everyday or almost everyday to improve/be ready. I like your idea as well.

In the mean time, I am preparing with my family and friends and whoever wants to be a part of us.

I totally agree. It is great for us to have people all over our state. But we should be broken down into regions and counties and immediate areas for better logistics just as u recommend.

Hi Raquel, I wouldn't think a hand tattoo would have anything to do with it. I don't see why that would make a difference. Did you try to contact them one more time? They are diff from a militia though.

Not sure...when I go to a lot of the HAM sites and some prepped sites they say they r ok for training where everyone is close but bad and cheap for anything other than localized training.

I have looked at it. I believe the SC State Guard answers to the governor like the NG. It is mostly used for state emergencies.

Good question...I have my tech HAM license and am studying for my general now. I have a lot to learn about the scanners and radios so if anyone can shed any light on the subject, I love to learn. : ) One thing that I have learned is to no buy Baofeng radios, which is what I have, LOL. I gotta buy an new better one.
