It only comes in silver but OD paint will stick to it. We tried several colors and looked at it with a FLIR camera. Light blue was the best. With no paint it is unseen and obviously the darker you paint it the more sun it collects and becomes visible to the FLIR, as any material will. The nicest thing about it is that since a FLIR camera will only work on the first focal point (won't see through something) it makes an excellent hide. I made an 8'x8' sun shade on a PVC frame to work underneath outside, and shot it with the camera to see how it worked. That's when I discovered that i

Man, do I ever hate to agree with Megatron, but.....

It's more of that HAM knowledge that many here seem to hate or think down right un-needed: UHF frequencies around the 450 range have great penetration through structures and VHF has much better coverage through foliage. AM, as in CB, has sporadic coverage that is largely dependent on atmospheric conditions and is very prone to electrical interference and fading. The best frequencies for playing in the woods like we do would be VHF, MURS if you want to keep it legal. Now for radios: The Baofengs are OK, just not the best. If they get you comms and are all you can afford then it beco

Asheville, NC is going to Hell in a handbasket
no one replied to Krunk1's topic in Introductions - Tell Us About Yourself
Asheville was lost 20 years ago when the influx of artsy-fartsy left wing tree hugging scum started piling in. What was one of my favorite places is now unrecognizable. The friends I used to have there have all left and the places I liked to go have all changed. It's true of almost every town in the NC Mountains. -
According to SCEMD, there has been no reports of any credible threats for 4 July at the state level, and none that have been passed down from the Federal level. This is from a friend who works there. They get a brief daily of such things, I forget what it's called. Todd may remember. Personally I would urge everyone, especially in bigger cities, to just be on their toes.

Yesterday (6/26) I had just got into my truck after making a few gun store purchases when two black guys that had been in there came out. One was carrying his new pistol in the box and made the comment "White motherfuckers got no idea what's coming". The other one laughed and they left . I went back inside and discussed it with owner. He said he has had more black customers in the last month than he has had in 12 years in business. He said all have been respectful and it was the first talk of that kind he has heard. So, I left and called a black friend of mine who said he has indeed heard rumb

See an attorney. A lot will depend on the actual crime, but it is very doable.

Communication (HAM)

I was just in an AT&T facility in SC that used to have a whole floor of batteries, all gone. Guy said generators at substations are less maintenance. -

Telephone centers do not have the huge battery banks they once did. Power outages will affect old fashioned telephone service in most areas now. -
SEMI-FORCED NATIONAL I.D.

I'll tell a little story here, actually 2. Around 1991 or so there was a murder in NC where the victim was cut into pieces, placed into a barrel, and set ablaze on the side of the road. The government supplied the Rowan County Sheriffs Office with a satellite photo of the truck parked next to the barrel that led to the arrest of the murderer. Until that time, no one had a clue that satellites had that kind of resolution, but the bigger issue that was never answered was why was a billion dollar satellite taking pictures on a rural road at night. Story 2, way back in my early career I did HVAC t -

To obtain a CWP in SC, one must submit two passport size photos. When you receive your CWP, it is your drivers license photo on it. -
Communication (HAM)

Let me jump in and be the wet blanket here. First, getting your ham ticket does nothing for the other members of the group on ham frequencies. Each person must have their license to operate on the ham bands. That being said, a ham in the group is an invaluable asset as he will have learned HOW to communicate, how to erect antennas for a given coverage area, which frequencies are best, etc. I have heard a lot of people proclaim they will just get a ham radio and if the SHTF operate anyway. Well, they won't know how, and no one will communicate with them. So I commend you guys on getting your ti -
Not on NSAbook, thank you very much.

They get all of these flakes to march and cause trouble yet we have trouble filling our ranks. It boggles my mind.

Here's What Can Happen To YOU!

Myrtle Beach Police Department starts at $44k, Horry County Police start at $40k. This isn't really about good or bad cops, but how heavy handed they have become in the last 25 years. I did a stint for 13 months as a special deputy in the mid 80's, and if I had dealt with people like they do on any episode of Cops, I would have been fired and faced possible civil actions. I left the department because of the scumbags, liars, and criminals that were employed there. I've seen deputies trigger VASCAR units early just to write a speeding ticket, deputies helping themselves to items in stores- 15 comments

I would get the radios and stop there. An armed group tear-assing around the neighborhood will not look good in any court should a shooting happen. Better, IMHO, to have an active radio net operational, alert each other, make the call to 911, then mobilize to face the threat. Also, if you have time to go to the car and retrieve a long gun, your actions have now become premeditated.

I would hope that everyone who chooses to carry has sought out an attorney, hopefully one with experience in criminal defense, and gotten schooled on the consequences of a self defense shooting. In my state (SC) for instance, I will be arrested until it is sorted out, and I should not admit I did the shooting. I should call the police, tell them there has been a shooting and they will want to talk to me about it. I should go to a public place and surrender my unloaded weapon to them, give them my name, my attorney's name, and shut the fuck up until my attorney arrives. This will vary greatly b

It's this really the world we want to live in?
no one replied to a topic in Off-Topic - No Militia Related Topics
I agree this is no way to go about our daily lives. Rest assured that after the November elections, no matter the outcome, this will be a memory and it'll be on to the next big thing. The lawmakers, Democrats in particular, are attempting to reshape our country and divide us into two classes of wealth. Americans are too lazy to keep wearing masks and maintain all of those plexiglass barriers. On another note: Where was any of the MN militias during all of the riots? Did anyone deploy? Offer to assist?
