This is the boat I find myself in, and hope for a new unit closer to me.  I've filled out the initial application; how would I hear if a new unit was formed?

I'm in Hunt County and interested in finding a unit.  I'm not sure how much I can commit to, but no training at all is probably a bad plan.

Dylan, your map clearly shows you well outside the 903 area code.  I think you should join one of the 512, 254, or 325 groups.

Dylan, yes, militia groups are local and therefore determined by geography.  But your group isn't the only group.  I have a lot of questions that I'd want answered before associating myself with a militia, and I've been asking for resources by which I could come by those answers, rather than asking them one at a time on an internet forum.  But since you seem to insist on this format, I'll ask some of them here.

So far, the only name you've given me for your group is the Texas Lightfoot Milita, so I'll just refer to your group as TLM for now. 

1. What, exactly, is the TLM?
2. What are TLMs stated goals, values, mission, etc (identity questions)?  Do they have this in writing?
3. Why would you suggest that TLM is the single unified militia in Texas when evidence I've been easily able to find online suggests otherwise?
4. Who is the leadership of TLM?
5. When was it formed, and by whom?
6. How many units does it have? 
7. How big are the units?
8. Who leads the units?
9. How do the units interact? 
10. If they're in one command structure, then what is that command structure?
11. Who is in that command structure? 
12. How did they come to be in that command structure?
13. You said TLM "reports to the governor in constitutionally relevant matters".  What does that mean?  Does the governor even know TLM exists?  Why would TLM report to the governor?
14. What is the essential purpose of each unit?
15. How do the units train?
16. How often?
17. At what expense?
18. Where?
19. Does TLM have any kind of political affiliation or apparatus?
20. If TLM is trying to be the unified militia in Texas, why have you been unable to get TSM on board?
21. Does the TLM have a legal status or entity?

I apologize if this comes across as needlessly aggressive.  That's not my intent, it's just that after all the back and forth so far I'm not sure how else to get the information I need.

Fixer, thanks for this explanation.  This is how I interpreted the area code thing.  But what Dylan was representing:

isn't adding up to me, and instead of helping me be "made aware of them and mak[ing my] own decision", this approach seems to me to obscure what's really there.  More to the point: I'm more confused, not less, because I have now been presented with apparently conflicting information. Is this what Dylan is talking about?  If so, can you shed more light on exactly what this means?

My goals as they pertain to my potential involvement in a militia group are essentially twofold:

1.  To equip myself and fellow patriots to stand up to an abusive federal or state government, when and if necessary

2.  To network with other like-minded Texans and take responsibility for keeping our families and communities safe in the event of a worst-case scenario

Like anyone, I could wax on philosophically about what all that means, but that's the bottom line in plain language.

I mean anything: phone numbers, website, address, facebook page, newspaper ads, anything.

I mean, it's clear there are other militias in Texas that aren't part of your group, right?  I found at least a handful just clicking around. I want to evaluate each group to see if there's one whose goals I share with which I'd be willing to involve myself.  I didn't realize this area code business was just a recruiting flow for one specific group.  Why wasn't this info spelled out more clearly in the area-code post in the first place? 

Is there a website or some official public presence that I could look into?

 What does that mean?  Are you referring to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Militia, as in the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, and the Texas State Guard?

I'm asking all these questions because I'm new to mymilitia.com and trying to understand what's going on and none of this is stated very clearly anywhere that I can tell (and if it is, please link to it).

I'm definitely quite confused as to the purpose of all this, then.

According to the TSM website (https://texasstatemilitia.net/) they have units that cover the entire state.  I reached out directly to them.

I don't understand.  I thought this 903 militia literally just started, so how could "we" have local leadership and a training schedule already?

I looked into another militia recently (TSM) which looked like a pretty professional group, but when they train they go through Sundays.  I request that if this group ends up coming together and putting together training events that we please avoid Sundays.  I do my best to honor the Lord's day and not schedule things on Sundays.

Also.....what's a MM317 unit?  I'm guessing MM = "my militia", but what's 317?
