  1. Just think, if they are willing to do this to law enforcement officers in Virginia, what do you think they will be willing to do to you. If you live in Virginia and you support the Second Amendment, just remember that these Sheriffs came out to support you when you needed it. Pay them back by showing up at the ballot box and vote these people out. In the video, you’ll learn about a prefiled bill that threatens to remove the pensions of law enforcement officers who publicly state or intentionally fail to enforce the unconstitutional gun laws. It also mentions retraining for officers as well as an oath to the commonwealth. Is an oath to uphold the Constitution not good enough? Is the oath to the commonwealth superior to an oath to the Constitution? Hopefully we’ll get some answers on this in the months to come. In another disgusting act today, we learned that apparently Virginia Democrats denied law enforcement officers a 3% pay raise specifically because they opposed unconstitutional gun laws. If you don’t get out and vote in the next election in 2021 then this is on you. No more excuses; we have to get these people out. Stand up for your law enforcement and vote! Article online here.
  2. Tucker Carlson Tonight This morning, thousands of Virginians marched peacefully at the state Capitol to protest an attack on their gun rights. Under some circumstances, a demonstration to protect the Constitution would be considered virtuous. “Civil disobedience,” they often tell us. “It’s what democracy’s supposed to look like.” But needless to say, they don’t really mean it. Instead of congratulating the protesters, the left suggested they were engaged in a form of terrorism.
  3. As 4 bills progress along party lines in Virginia legislature, 2nd Amendment sanctuary movement gains momentum BY BOWEN XIAO 28 CommentsJanuary 15, 2020 Updated: January 15, 2020 RICHMOND, Va.—Hundreds of Second Amendment advocates converged on Virginia’s state capital on Jan. 13 to oppose a slew of tighter gun control proposals being voted on by newly elected state lawmakers. The long line of Virginia residents—many wearing bright “Guns Save Lives” stickers—showed up before 8 a.m. in a show of support for their constitutional rights that they say are being infringed upon. Some gun control advocates attended as well, holding signs with slogans such as “sensible gun laws equal less gun violence.” The rallying crowds did little to stop four gun control measures from advancing in the state’s Democratic-led General Assembly after approval by the Senate Judiciary Committee. The committee passed legislation for universal background checks, a measure allowing localities to ban weapons from some events and government buildings, a “red flag” bill allowing authorities to temporarily confiscate guns from certain individuals deemed a risk, and a law that limits the purchase of handguns to only one per month. In interviews with The Epoch Times, Second Amendment advocates, including local residents, county sheriffs, gun store owners, and Virginia’s NRA leader, argued that the proposed gun control measures were an overreach that violated residents’ constitutional rights. They said stricter legislation will do nothing to stop criminals from committing crimes and said the focus should be more on mental health. Second Amendment advocates attend a hearing where four gun control bills passed the Senate Judiciary Committee at the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond on Jan. 13, 2020. (Samira Bouaou/The Epoch Times) The Senate Judiciary Committee passed four gun control bills during a hearing at the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond on Jan. 13, 2020. (Samira Bouaou/The Epoch Times) The four bills now advance to the Virginia Senate for further discussion. They would need to be passed by the Senate and the House of Delegates, and be signed by Gov. Ralph Northam (D) to become law. Democrats won control of both chambers of the state legislature in the November 2019 elections and have vowed to enact stronger gun control policies. They believe stricter legislation will help reduce shootings and deaths and would “break the cycle” of gun violence. The committee ended up largely voting along party lines, but not every piece of legislation was approved. One proposed measure (SB-16) that sparked the most controversy—banning the sale and possession of so-called assault weapons—was taken off the table. According to The Associated Press, an estimated 8 million AR-style guns have been sold since their introduction to the public in the 1960s. Matthew Thwing, a 41-year-old small-business owner in Virginia, said he attended the hearing to have his voice heard and to show that he and the other “nearly 1,000” Second Amendment advocates weren’t going to stand for the new agenda pushed by state lawmakers. An additional overflow room had to be opened during the hearing because of the large numbers. “I think that if there’s a mandate in Virginia, it’s that they don’t want gun control. We don’t want gun control,” he told The Epoch Times. “These numbers are tremendous, and you really don’t see that kind of turnout for any kind of political event whatsoever. “It’s woken a sleeping giant, if you will,” Thwing added. Some of the Second Amendment supporters took the day off work to attend, while others drove from hours away. (Samira Bouaou/The Epoch Times) The number of Second Amendment supporters who showed up wasn’t surprising, Matt Rogers, chief of staff to Sen. David W. Marsden (D-Fairfax), said before the hearing. Marsden represents the 37th District in the state Senate. “There are people here on this side, and on that side,” Rogers told The Epoch Times. “I’m absolutely not surprised, its a democracy. It’s not a problem, and it’s actually exciting, even if people don’t tend to agree with our point of view … this is the right way to address their grievances.” Rogers said they have to “be mindful” of the Second Amendment, but he added that there are things that can be done “within the bounds” of it. Daniel Spiker, state director at the National Rifle Association (NRA), expressed disappointment following the results of the committee hearing. He predicted the fight for Second Amendment rights will be a very long and drawn-out one. “SB-16 being stricken from the record is an indication that the governor and some of the Democrats have seen that they’ve overreached and that these bills have unintended consequences,” he told The Epoch Times. “We’re encouraged by it. But at the end of the day, it’s still multiple levels of new regulation and new laws imposed on law-abiding citizens,” he said. State lawmakers have less than 60 days to get all the bills to become law. Spiker said that the result of the NRA’s rallying call for citizens to flock to the state capitol “far exceeded their expectations of what the turnout was going to be.” “It’s indicative of what this movement is and the enthusiasm we’re seeing at the local level with engaging their board of supervisors, their city councils,” Spiker said. “Our hope was for that enthusiasm to come to Richmond.” Daniel Spiker, state director at NRA, after a hearing where four gun control bills passed the Senate Judiciary Committee at the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond on Jan. 13, 2020. (Samira Bouaou/The Epoch Times) The ‘Second Amendment Sanctuary’ Movement On Jan. 7, the city council in Virginia Beach enacted legislation in a 6 to 4 vote to declare the state’s largest city a “Second Amendment constitutional city.” In that vote, local residents crowded the building to have their voices heard, with an overflow crowd outside watching the proceedings on a TV screen. Officials who have adopted such sanctuary resolutions or amendments generally state that they won’t follow new gun laws they believe are unconstitutional. Local officials who voted for their counties to become Second Amendment sanctuaries told The Epoch Times the measures they passed were largely symbolic and were made to send a message to lawmakers. They said that any state laws enacted would still supersede any local legislation. Following the Senate committee hearing, a county sheriff said he wasn’t surprised by the committee’s action, and that he was disappointed he couldn’t speak for longer. He said the committee had “their minds made up” and “didn’t want to hear any input,” adding that it could affect their seats in the next election. “I thank them for starting down this road for one reason—it’s going to flip Virginia back red in so many ways they don’t expect,” Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins told The Epoch Times. “Elections have consequences.” Jenkins said the strong push for tighter gun control has “awakened a population in the state that has long been quiet.” “And that doesn’t account for the court battles that are coming, because there are plenty of us willing to battle this out in the court the right way, as well,” he added. (Samira Bouaou/The Epoch Times) Jenkins has gone further than others, saying he would “deputize citizens” as auxiliary deputies, if needed, to protect the constitutional right to bear firearms. In early December, Culpeper County’s Board of Supervisors voted 7 to 0 to affirm itself as a “constitutional county,” prompting a standing ovation by residents who were present for the vote. Northam and other Democratic lawmakers in the state, meanwhile, have credited their focus on gun control for helping them win full control of the General Assembly for the first time in more than two decades, according to The Associated Press. Virginia, especially, has become the center of the gun debate, with 91 of the state’s 95 counties passing some sort of measure affirming their support for Second Amendment rights. A number of municipalities in Virginia have also become sanctuaries. Hundreds of local counties, cities, and towns across America are declaring themselves “Second Amendment sanctuaries” or “constitutional counties” as part of an expanding movement over the past few years. In Illinois, at least 70 of the 102 counties in the state have passed some form of sanctuary resolution. Paul Moog, who works with the Virginia Citizens Defense League, a nonprofit grassroots organization whose goal is to advance the rights of Virginians to keep and bear arms, said he was very much in favor of the Second Amendment sanctuary movement. “[We] helped put them in through Orange County,” he said. “I’ve been to several other meetings, and I think it’s a great movement that will help defuse some of the tension.” The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was passed by Congress on Sept. 25, 1789, and was ratified on Dec. 15, 1791. The text reads that “a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Moog claims that the proposed gun control agenda could cause a bigger fight to break out within the state. “I think that the Democrats are very close to pushing civil war in Virginia,” Moog said. “If you try to turn your opposition into criminals, people have a tendency to want to fight back.” Second Amendment advocates attend a hearing where four gun control bills passed the Senate Judiciary Committee at the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond on Jan. 13, 2020. (Samira Bouaou/The Epoch Times) The sanctuary movement is helping to take the heat off the anger people are feeling, because it’s making them “feel more secure” according to Moog. “I think we’re in a very touchy situation,” he said. In a sign of tensions boiling over, Marsden last week called Second Amendment supporters “little kids” who should be ignored, according to a news post by the Fairfax County Republican Committee. In an interview with radio station WMAL, co-host Mary Walter read from an email that Marsden had reportedly written to a constituent, where he had said that “too many of your members and other 2A supporters appear to have mental health issues.” Marsden later defended his remarks and cited offensive emails and phone calls he claimed he received from some constituents. In response to the rising number of Second Amendment sanctuaries, a U.S. House Democrat recently floated the idea that Northam could direct the state’s National Guard to help enforce the proposed gun restrictions. Rep. Donald McEachin (D-Va.) made the proposal on Dec. 11, 2019, while also suggesting cutting off state funds to counties that don’t comply with gun control measures that might pass in the state. The Virginia National Guard responded with a string of Twitter posts, in which they said they haven’t received any requests from the governor. “We understand and respect the passion people feel for the U.S. Constitution and 2nd Amendment rights,” Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the state’s adjutant general, wrote. “We will not speculate about the possible use of the Virginia National Guard.” ‘Innocent Until Proven Guilty’ Miles away from the state capital, a local gun store owner said that the constitution protects the people. “Our constitution protects us … But the people that want control understand that they can’t get control as long as the population can protect themselves,” Tony Martin, the managing partner of a local gun store, said. “That’s the point of the Second Amendment—to be able to serve the people and not be oppressed by the government,” he added. “In Virginia, they want to change it completely.” Red flag laws and other gun control proposals infringe upon the rights of the citizens, Martin said. He said the United States judicial system is based on the principle that everyone is innocent until proven guilty and that, in a court of law, people are entitled to a fair and reasonable opportunity to defend themselves. Martin said that the red flag law approach appears on the surface as if it should make everyone safer, but, on closer examination, exposes serious issues. In particular, it would forgo the “innocent until proven guilty” principle. “If in place, you can lose your rights and you can lose your personal property, based on somebody else’s accusation,” he said. “This is an incremental process. You can’t just come in and say, ‘Oh, here’s the Constitution, let’s shred it and start over.’ They can’t do that, so they are taking baby steps and they have done so for many, many years.” Martin noted that the “firearms industry is the most heavily regulated industry in the world.” He said he also objects to the term “gun violence,” saying that the gun itself isn’t capable of committing any crimes. “It’s an inanimate object,” he said. “Now, could it be used violently by a person? Of course. And for that matter, anything could.” Follow Bowen on Twitter: @BowenXiao_ Dear Readers, Thank you for reading The Epoch Times. 4. by Paul Bedard | January 02, 2020 11:47 AM Virginia’s pop-up gun sanctuary movement has turned its attention to fighting the governor’s call for a $4.8 million, 18-officer team to enforce his proposed “assault weapons” ban. Two key groups issued an alert this week to push gun owners to four budget hearings Thursday around the state, asking them to quiz state legislators if they will vote to ban or confiscate weapons. “We understand that this is short notice. But it would have a significant impact if many of our members could show up and make a 3-minute statement and ask questions of the legislators in attendance,” said the Virginia Citizens Defense League. “We see in the governor’s proposed budget that he wants $4 million and 18 new law-enforcement positions to enforce a ban on commonly-owned firearms,” said Erich Pratt, Gun Owners of America senior vice president. “Gun owners want to know: Is this money going to be used for the gun confiscation?” he added. Both groups have been key in the surprising success of the organic gun sanctuary movement in Virginia that was prompted when Gov. Ralph Northam said he’d back sweeping gun control legislation after Democrats took control of the legislature in the 2019 elections. The election surprised gun owners and prompted them to subsequently flood town and county meetings to demand that local lawmakers OK sanctuary resolutions to ignore Richmond’s gun control urge. A surprising 91% of all state counties have adopted the resolutions, sending a signal to state lawmakers. In two weeks, the groups are planning to bus in thousands of gun owners for a “lobby day” in Richmond to reinforce demands not to pass new gun laws. The gun control side is also working overtime to win support for gun control initiatives, including expanded background checks and a ban on modern sporting weapons such as AR-15 rifles and pistols. At today’s budget hearings, the groups have urged their members to ask questions about Northam’s budget that includes $4.8 million for an 18-person force to implement his proposed assault weapons ban. It also features more than $2 million to hire 10 more to enforce other gun control proposals, including universal background checks, a one gun purchase per month limit, and “extreme risk legislation.” “We need to get as many pro-gun Virginians as possible to attend these meetings and demand to know if the delegates and senators plan to allocate money -- as delineated in budget -- to confiscate common, household firearms from Virginia citizens,” VCDL wrote in an email alert. 5. This is an urgent request to MyMilitia followers who like this website and would like to see its influence spread. There is, as we all know, HUGE interest stirred up by the proposed attack on the Second Amendment in Virginia. This is a "Bridge at Remagen" moment: a time when an unexpected opportunity demands that we change all our plans and drive towards a vulnerable spot that the enemy has inadvertently opened up. (Read about the real Bridge at Remagen here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Remagen ) This is a great opportunity to advertise the existence of MyMilitia.com. It's also a great opportunity to build the militia movement, perhaps gaining thousands or even tens of thousands of new members for it. Is anyone going to the planned demonstration in Virginia? If so, how about making and hold a sign reading something like, "The Second Amendment in Practice: Go to MyMilitia.com. " (Be sure it's painted clearly in large black letters on a white background, two signs back to back; we want it to be clearly visible in photos and on TV.) Go here for more information: https://www.popsci.com/how-to-make-best-protest-sign/ Of course a small leaflet with a brief description of this site and its URL would be useful as well. But .. .what can be done NOW by EVERYONE is this: There are now dozens and dozens of YouTube videos on the Virginia situation, and on gun control in general. Some of them have had THREE MILLION viewers. Almost all of these videos allow comments. It's hard to say how many people read these comments, but many of the comments that I have seen have had dozens of replies -- which means they have probably been read by hundreds of people. We should immediately start making comments on these videos. I have started, and my comments go something like this: If a dozen people start putting comments like the above -- using your own words -- , each person doing it to five or ten videos, we can saturate the 'market'. Comments get pushed down eventually, but we can keep adding them. It's better if people see two or three or more people publicizing MyMilitia.com, each in his own words. ... this has much more convincing power than if just one person does it. Here are some video links to get started with -- each time you load one of these, YouTube will suggest others on a similar theme in a column on your right... so you can just start with one of these, and then move on to the others which are suggested by YouTube. 6. FAIRFAX, VA - NOVEMBER 07: Virginia Governor-elect Ralph Northam waves to supporters at an election night rally November 7, 2017 in Fairfax, Virginia. Northam defeated Republican candidate Ed Gillespie. As if Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s wholesale attack on law-abiding gun owners wasn’t enough, the disgraced public official and his Michael Bloomberg-bought allies in the General Assembly now want the state’s hard-working taxpayers to foot the bill for their unconstitutional schemes. The budget bill (HB30) includes an appropriation of a quarter million dollars to carry out a host of gun control measures that Northam and his anti-gun allies hope to enact. The $250,000 is appropriated to the Corrections Special Reserve Fund in order to provide for the “increase in the operating cost of adult correctional facilities resulting from the enactment” of Northam’s gun control measures. Among the enumerated laws that this allocation is meant to fund is a ban on commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms, the criminalization of private firearms transfers, and gun confiscation orders issued without due process. Aside from the insult of forcing law-abiding Virginia taxpayers to pay for the diminution of their rights, the gun control allocation is a severe waste of resources. Northam’s Bloomberg-backed gun control measures will not make Virginia safer. In additional to being unconstitutional, a ban on commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms will not reduce violent crime. Long guns of any description are rarely used in violent crime. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting data breaks down homicides by weapon type. In 2018, the FBI reported that there were five times as many individuals listed as killed with “knives or cutting instruments,” than with rifles of any kind. The data also showed that rifles were listed as being used in less homicides than “blunt objects (clubs, hammers, etc.)” or “personal weapons (hands, fists, feet, etc.).” A 1997 Department of Justice-funded study of the 1994 federal “assault weapons” ban determined that “At best, the assault weapons ban can have only a limited effect on total gun murders, because the banned weapons and magazines were never involved in more than a modest fraction of all gun murders.” A 2004 follow-up Department of Justice-funded study came to a similar conclusion. The study determined that “AWs [assault weapons] and LCMs [large capacity magazines] were used in only a minority of gun crimes prior to the 1994 federal ban,” “relatively few attacks involve more than 10 shots fired,” and “the ban’s effects on gun violence are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement.” So-called “universal” background checks do not stop criminals from obtaining firearms. Background checks don’t stop criminals from stealing firearms, getting them on the black market, or getting them from straw purchasers. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 75 percent of criminals in state and federal state prison who had possessed a firearm during their offense acquired the firearm through theft, “Off the street/underground market,” or “from a family member or friend, or as a gift.” Less than one percent got firearms from dealers or non-dealers at gun shows. ATF has reported, “[t]he most frequent type of trafficking channel identified in ATF investigations is straw purchasing from federally licensed firearms dealers.” This year, researchers at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and the UC Davis School of Medicine found that comprehensive background checks and prohibitions based on violent misdemeanors “were not associated with changes in firearm suicide or homicide.” Aside from enabling the unacceptable deprivation of constitutional rights without due process, an Extreme Risk Protection Order (Red Flag) law is unnecessary in Virginia because the state already has strong and effective civil commitment laws. Under Virginia law, a law enforcement officer may take an individual into emergency custody for a mental health evaluation without prior court approval. A person detained in this manner is then evaluated to determine whether they meet the criteria for a temporary detention. A person that was subject to a temporary detention order and subsequently agreed to voluntary admission to a mental health facility is prohibited from possessing firearms until their rights are restored by a court. Tax-paying Virginians should not have to foot the bill for Northam and Bloomberg’s radical attack on their fundamental rights. Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the “lobbying” arm of the National Rifle Association of America. ILA is responsible for preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals in the legislative, political, and legal arenas, to purchase, possess and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. 7. Virginia: Let’s get down to the heart of the Issue. #MaxVelocityTactical ... However, the real reason I decided to sit down and write this article was something I am tracking in comments across the board. It is fear. What do I mean by that? Essentially, it is your normalcy bias not registering the seriousness of our situation. This forces you to act in what you see as a ‘rational’ way, but that in fact is an advantage to the leftists in Richmond. You see, you are in fear of ‘the authorities.’ You are in fear of saying something that may get you in trouble. You don’t want to cause a fuss. You are a ‘law abiding citizen.’ The usual response to these sort of gun ‘laws’ coming down the pike, as seen in other States, is for people to scuttle and run, and look to ways they can ‘sort of’ get around the ‘laws.’ But God Bless Virginia! Things have gone differently here, and we have a chance. We have a chance to push back on this tyranny, and maybe even create a wave going back into other lost States where they may be able to stand and reclaim their Liberty. Because make no mistake, the leftists are playing for keeps, and if We (The People) lose this now, we will lose it forever, for our kids and grand kids, forever. ...Thus, it is possible that on July 1st 2020, you may become a felon, for standing by your natural and enumerated right to self-defense. It is your duty as a free citizen to NOT ALLOW THE 2A TO BE INFRINGED. ...
